AMD released version 9.3 of their ATI video card driver package.

These drivers include the following:
  • ATI Catalyst™ 9.3 Unified driver for Windows 7 and Windows Vista
  • ATI Catalyst™ 9.3 Folding@Home performance enhancements
  • ATI Catalyst™ 9.3 – Windows Vista HDMI audio driver support integrated into all ATI Catalyst 9.3 packages
  • New AMD Display Library (ADL) SDK

Note: The Windows 7 driver is not final and is provided "as is" and is not supported by AMD, and may contain software bugs. It has not completed full AMD testing. Use of this software is at your own risk.

I have always faithfully updated my ATI drivers for my ATI 3800 series. The latest one is simply marvelous, looks great in my Sharp LCD 37" graphics looks just great. Thank you to all the staff involved in developing this new excellent driver.

Nice to see the Win7 support (although Catlaylyst 9.2 works already fine here).

The "View" link for the Release Notes doesn't work, it just gives a "Leech" error.

Wow, Windows 7 does give me quite a bit of a performance boost. Now if only Evenbalance would do the right thing and start getting its act together with Punkbuster. Sadly, I am sure Call of Duty Modern Warfare II will continue to use such products. Even balance needs to go bankrupt.

Why does the Avivo package always show up weeks later, and sometimes without a 64-bit download link at all?

does it really matter if I install just the display driver or the catalyst control center. Is there an actual difference?
#8 bradsday on 19 Mar 2009 - 12:51
It depends. Last release, version 9.2, included fan control in the Catalyst Control suite. Sure that everything would work fine if you just install the driver, but you might be missing out on some minor enhancement. I always download the entire suite, and then unistall the old version before installing the new version.

The control panel isn't usable on vista as usual...
Normal install -> after every boot it says (cc isnt made for this driver)... only with manual driver and cc un and ordered installation, it works...
If you install it normally... there is a big chance for a popup every boot and that the control panel freezes if you click the advanced button...

Other than that (the cc problem) these drivers seem to be very nice.
Ive got nothing to complain at the moment... my games are running fine.

Does this also not work with pre-2000 generation cards (I mean X1900 etc, not year 2000!), like 9.2? I had 9.1 and mobility modded it for my laptop (X1900 M), worked fine. 9.2 didnt do anything, and I remember seeing they removed support for pre-2000 cards, COMPLETELY. If so, why not include the latest driver as well! Even selecting X1900 in the ATI site still points me to the 9.2 release.

Unless its just mobility modder that isnt talking to the install package properly...

Anyone else with any experience on this?
