How come Mozilla doesn't make x64 builds?
#2.1 Vow_Z on 17 Jun 2009 - 07:25
Maybe they will in the final build.

One question: would extensions, themes and plugins work with a x64 Firefox?

Extensions and themes - yes, because they're based on XUL, not executable code compiled for specific platforms.
Plugins like Flash, it doesn't look like Flash does it, but others may.

Extensions can include binary components, so some extensions wouldn't work either.

There's not really that much of a reason to go purely 64Bit, there are bigger gains in speed to be made just by cleaning up old/buggy code.

Better to badger Adobe to make it work on x64.

Haven't they already release some kind of alpha/beta x64 Flash for Linux already? I thought I saw an article about this a few weeks back. Guess no one uses Liniux? Please don't throw anything at me. I was just joking. GOSH!

Hmm it links to b4 for me on the Mozilla site. Neowin's links are right. I just changed the b4 to rc1 and all seems good.

Easiest way for current 3.5 beta users to upgrade is to go to the Help menu and choose "Check for Updates..."

Off topic:
When using the official 3.0, when trying to download the extension "Glasser", it tells me my Firefox is too old.
When using 3.5, when I try to download "Glasser", it tells me my Firefox is too new.

When is 3.5 supposed to be officially released?

HTML5 is useless since no other browser supports it yet. Untill IE supports it, it gets interesting.

Ignorant comment of the day?

People need to read more carefully before trying to make witty comments?

Downloading portable build..
#11 LiquidSolstice on 19 Jun 2009 - 08:58
Not really noticing any major speed upgrades. Nor is Firefox using any less memory.

Am I supposed to be seeing any of these things at all?
