Isn't this like 5 days old or so?

Well I didn't know about it. So thanks to the poster.

There seems to be an obsession with "old". Even if it isn't posted to the official software section, it seems to suffer an "old" drawback.

This is not unique to neowin.

i tried it, had to roll back, video's stopped playing

These are nice because the "no restart" feature is no longer limited to upgrades. Fresh installs the driver does not require a reboot.

I like how ATI dropped support for cards that came out not too long ago.

Their poor driver support in the past and now them dropping support for many cards now means I certainly won't be buying their products in the future.
I have to use modified INF files and other 3rd party hacks and modifications to get my X-series card, built in late 2006, working with their drivers.
Meanwhile, my GeForce 6 from 2004 still gets updated drivers from NVidia.

They will continue to release drivers every 3 months. That seems reasonable.

2006 is more than not too long ago in my book.

That aside, do you really expect there to be much performance gain solely from upgrading the drivers? If everything is working for you, why complain?

I have two PCs here with ATI cards, one with an old AGP 9800 AIW Pro and the other with an X1950XT, both quite happily running the 9.3 Catalyst drivers (the latest supported by AMD). I don't feel the need to upgrade the drivers, not because AMD don't provide any newer ones, but because everything does what it's supposed to do and I can get on and enjoy some games and do my work and that suits me just fine.

If the drivers didn't work and AMD were doing nothing about it I'm sure I'd agree with you, but they do work. Also, even if newer drivers were available for these cards, I don't see how I would stand to see any significant performance increase just from upgrading them anyway.

complaining is easier than reading, so it seems.

Looks like nVidia is is sooo much better... Oh, wait, my nForce2 support was dropped and there were no official Vista drivers ever made.

those updates install yeah, but NONE of the improvements are used by your card. they are for the later versions

I downloaded and installed yesterday and I'm playing Oblivion IV at the moment (yeah I know it's an old game, but it was a double pack with Bioshock as well) the difference in the new build and style is mutch better than before. The FPS on Oblivion has inscread by about 10%.

Bioshock is a power hungry engine and the new drivers have made a difference in performance.

The CCC changes may not be the best I agree but they are a good set of drivers.

These drivers BSOD and give weird red vertical bars on Win 7 RTM. Going back to 9.6 fixed this for me.

I'm running vista x64 and radeon 4770's in crossfire and I'm not noticing any difference in Fallout 3, Ghostbusters, Street Fighter IV, or Crysis Warhead. And the new layout blows.ssssssssssssss
