Axialis Software has released IconWorkshop version 6.50, a professional authoring tool which permits to create, convert and manage icons for Windows (up to 256x256 for Windows Vista) and for Mac OS (up to 512x512 for Leopard). This major release includes the following features:

  • Ability to edit bitmap images - Now you can open, edit and save bitmap images in different formats. This feature permits creating UNIX icons in PNG format as well as illustrations for websites in GIF or JPEG format.
  • Photoshop plug-in compatible with CS4 - The transfer plug-in is compatible with the latest version of Photoshop CS4 in versions 32 bits and 64 bits. You must re-install the plug-in if you upgraded to Photoshop CS4.
  • Welcome window - The Welcome window is a handy tool for opening recent files, creating new projects and more. It is displayed in the center of the main window when no document is opened.
  • JPEG Optimizer - Now you can save images as JPEG and specify the JPEG compression ratio with instant preview.
  • New filter - The gaussian blur filter has been added.
  • New image enhancement - Now create Hot and Disabled effect on an icon, image or image strip.
  • Enhanced Drop Shadow - The drop shadow feature has been enhanced. Now you can adjust color, angle, size, distance and opacity.
  • New Objects Packs - Five new ready-to-use object packs are added in this release: Functions Icons (488 icons), iKon Icons (269 icons), Bright Icons (296 icons), Milky Icons (257 icons) and Rinoa Toolbars (183 icons).
  • Other enhancements and bug fixes.

Axialis IconWorkshop has a Lifetime License: If you've purchased a previous version, you're entitled for a free upgrade to version 6.50.

Looks interesting but I dont know if its worth that much over the free IcoFX - http://icofx.ro/

IconWorkshop is great. However IcoFX is almost just as great making IconWorkshop (to me) overpriced.

$100 (NZ) for an icon editor to create icons for our companies applications? I think not.

did they ever fix that darn Visual Studio toolbar bug? stupid axialis toolbar showing up with no button and would NEVER go away

Yes, they've finally added an option to the installer so you don't have to install that piece of crap add-in anymore.

I totally forgot I had a license I won almost 6 years ago for this software. Just downloaded it and made an icon from a file I had, may have to play with it more...

best good feature of axialis is replacing an executable's icon easily for me. ResHacker doesnt support 256x256 vista icons
