i think this Anti-Virus is one of the WORST free ones since it seems to be a resource hog etc vs others i have tried. at least when running Windows Vista it seemed to act up quite a bit to the point it was NOTICEABLY worse than others like Avira (which is what i currently use and recommend for FREE AV's) and AVG etc.

bottom line = Avast gets the thumbs down from me. use Avira instead.

p.s. i am running Windows 7 x64 Home Premium RTM now. i used to be on Vista at the time i tested the Avast AV program but i don't see Avast being better than Avira anytime soon.

I tried Avira some time ago, but I believe it had annoying nags. Never seemed to have any issues with Avast. I have been recommending AVG for novice/ casual PC users.
