Sony announces Lollipop rollout for Xperia Z2, confirms plans for other devices

At the end of last month, Sony announced the global rollout of its Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact and Z3 Tablet Compact, and promised that its Xperia Z2 and Z2 Tablet would follow a week later.

True to its word, the company has now begun to push Lollipop to both of those devices, although it warns that the update will be staggered, rather than simply being pushed out to every device at the same time. Sony didn't say which markets or regions will get the update first, so you'll just have to check your device, and wait patiently if it's not immediately available.

Additionally, Sony said that its Xperia Z3 Dual, Z1, Z1 Compact and Z Ultra will start to receive Android 5.0 from next week. Two further devices, the Xperia T2 Ultra and Xperia C3 - which Sony confirmed would be eligible for the update last month - will get Lollipop shortly thereafter.

The remaining Xperia Z Series devices will then be in line to get the update, but Sony is remaining tight-lipped for now about when exactly it will begin rolling it out to those phones and tablets.
