Sony Ericsson to preload PopCap games on its Android devices

Following PopCap's recent acquisition by Electronic Arts, the highly acclaimed casual games developer has announced a global agreement with Sony Ericsson, which will see some of PopCap's most popular games being preloaded on Sony's Xperia Mini and Xperia Mini Pro phones. The deal will also see the first official availability of PopCap's games on Android devices in Europe.

New Xperia Mini and Xperia Mini Pro users will get a full copy of Chuzzle on their phones, with trial versions of Plants vs. Zombies and Peggle included. The latter two games will have no time limit, and will include an easy way for users to unlock the full game via an integrated billing system.

Giordano Bruno Contestabile, PopCap's senior director of global product and business strategy for mobile devices, claims the partnership will bring "best-in-class" gaming experiences to the devices, which boast a Reality Display with a Mobile BRAVIA engine.

The rollout will commence in the next few months. The full press release may be read here.
