Sony is increasing PlayStation Plus prices in the UK by up to 25%

Sony has revealed that it is increasing its charges for PlayStation Plus, its premium gaming subscription, in the UK next month. Not all customers will be affected, and in fact, if you're willing to pay for your subscription on an annual basis, you'll be able to save more than before.

From September 1, the price of a one-month subscription will increase from £5.49 to £5.99 - but a three-month sub will see a larger price rise, jumping 25% from £11.99 per quarter to £14.99.

However, the price of a one-year PlayStation Plus membership isn't changing, and will remain at £39.99. Indeed, it seems that Sony's pricing adjustments are aimed at encouraging gamers to shift to the more budget-friendly annual subscriptions. With these new increases, an annual sub will now save you almost £32 compared with paying per month.

In a statement to TechRadar, Sony said that the price rises are "in line with market conditions".
