Sony Responds: 60GB PS3 Back in Stock

After Sony's Dave Karraker confirmed that there were no longer any 60GB PlayStation 3s remaining in SCEA warehouses and that the entire inventory had been shipped out to retailers, Sony has restocked the 60GB PlayStation 3 online on Sonystyle.com in response to consumer demand. GamePro was the first to report that the 60GB version of the PS3 became listed as on "back order" earlier this week. As well, Karraker noted that the US$599 80GB PS3 bundle may be reduced down to $499 once the complete supply of the 60GB version dries up. Such a price cut could be a good move for Sony seeing as they are still in last place in the next generation console war.

But anyone with a bit of knowledge will buy the 60Gb version because they know that the 80Gb version only has software emulation for older games.

I plan to buy a ps3 next year... but its not to run ps2 games :P... im gonna wait for the next price drop (and im waiting for x360 falcon boards as well).
This year the only game that looks incredible on ps3 is ratchet and not worth 500 bucks.

If you want to play your PS2 games like they were meant to be played, keep your PS2, that's plain and simple. Also, with software emulation, you open the door to possible improvements and better rendering than with the original hardware (although that has yet to be done by Sony).

Isn't it like....a cardinal sin to admit that you're going to cut the price on something soon? Now anyone with a bit of sense (well, disregarding that they're buying a PS3, which is a senseless action in itself =P) will just wait for the 60Gb models to go so they can pick up the 80Gb variety for the same price.
