Sony Says All PS3 Manufacturing Problems Fixed

Sony has happily announced that all manufacturing problems in relationship to the PS3 are resolved. Fans were rejoicing everywhere when they heard the news. Sony fanboys want the PS3 but many have turned to other alternatives including the PS2 (still dominating the gaming market even in November 2006) because the PS3 is simply unavailable. David Karraker, Sony's communication boss, then went on to proclaim that Sony is on track to ship 1 million, yes 1 million, PS3 consoles by December 31, 2006. Doctors are mystified with the worldwide epidemic of Sony fans going into an ecstatic seizure.

I don't think Sony is worried about the low adoption rate of the PS3 and game sales because people are still buying PS2 systems when their previous ones inevitably break due to bad construction. Also the PS2 has ALOT of solid games so they can juice the PS2 for a while yet. As for the PS3 so far without any really noteworthy game and its highest acclaimed game being a very generic first person shooter, it doesn't seem like the PS3 will really take off for maybe a year or 2.

Also I don't think sony has fixed their 1080i problem as theres still ALOT of reports of it being broken.

because the PS3 is simply unavailable

And simply to expensive to a lot of people too, will be interesting to see what happens to sales once the fanboys all have them.

i just bought an 360 and im loving it. wii is sold out and ps3 is not here till march 07 (supposedly).

and its my first console ever... and its lots of fun- some really nice deals on over xmas for 360.

I thought their original projection was for 2 million consoles worldwide by the end of the year or is this 1 million projection just for the US?

I wonder if this is really true. They been saying their problems are fixed since last year... and look what happened at launch.
It took them 2 months to build less than 400k units and they want us to believe they can build, pack, ship and deliver 600k units in less than 3 weeks!!

That sounds like the usual sony bull***t to me. I wont believe 'till I see a stock full of ps3's at the mall.

Bout time. Maybe things will look up for Sony. Despite their crappy year, they've always brought good competition to the market.

Don't be a damn troll. This is about Sony, why the hell does everyone have to make it into a console war every time?

Even if they caved and bought a 360 or wii they'll still get the system of their main preference when given the opportunity to. I have all 3 systems and got them all the day they were released :-)

its not wasted money if that was one of his priorities. Some people collect stamps, some people buy fast cars or nice computers and some people like gaming consoles. It's hardly money wasted if thats what you really like.

Last generation consoles are not worth for a collection with the exception of prototypes, complete collection, rarities and limited editions. So a common ps3 is not a investment at all.

Is that in response to my post as I wasn't saying the PS3 was an investment, rather its a hobby or something one does as enjoyment similar to stamp collecting ect. Most collectors of rare itrems dont do it for monetary purposes anyway, they tend to horde the items in their own house.

If he enjoys gaming then clearly buying the console wasn't wasted money.

umm good for Sony, how they plan to ship 1 million consoles by December 31st? they do realize that they have about 2 and bit weeks to pull that off...right? or is it 2007 doesn't start till they say so? :P

Maybe they meant Chinese New Year ? (Feb 18th as far as I remember).

You may be on target there. hehe.

Our best buy just got in like a dozen over the last week, so it may be possible. I finally have one. Impressive piece of hardware; the games out aren't great yet (b/c they are crap launch games), but the system itself is solid and very well engineered. My big two complaints right now though are the amount of heat the system gives off (although extremely quiet) and the amount of time it takes to update firmware. O_o
