Sony switches out two of its indie PS4 launch titles with two new ones

"Blacklight: Retribution" is now a launch title for the PS4.

Sony warned last week when it posted its PlayStation 4 launch day game lineup that the list could change before the release date of November 15 arrives, and that's indeed what has happened. Sony has already added "Need For Speed Rivals" to the PS4 game launch list, and on Wednesday it updated its FAQ page again, removing two indie titles and replacing them with two new ones.

The page now says that "Pinball Arcade" and "Tiny Brains" won't be ready for the US PS4 launch in eight days; no reason was given and no new release date for those titles were announced. However, two new games are taking their place on the roster. One is "Blacklight: Retribution", the free-to-play first person shooter that's developed by Zombie Studios. The other is "Trine 2: The Complete Story", the side scroller-puzzle game from developer Frozenbyte.

So here is the updated list of the 23 games that, at the moment, Sony says will be available to play for the PS4 in eight days:

  • Angry Birds Star Wars-Activision
  • Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag-Ubisoft
  • Battlefield 4- Electronic Arts
  • Call of Duty Ghosts-Activison
  • DC Universe Online - Sony Online Entertainment

  • Killzone Shadow Fall-Sony Computer Entertainment
  • Knack-Sony Computer Entertainment
  • Lego Marvel Super Heroes-Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment
  • Madden NFL 25-EA Sports
  • NBA 2K14-2K Sports
  • Need for Speed Rivals-Electronic Arts

This chart (minus some recent changes) show that with few exceptions, the PS4 vs XboxOne titles are almost identical.

Killzone is a definite purchase when I get my ps4 hopefully before Nov 27.. stupid amazon.ca, they think launch edition means ship it on launch day.

I dunno.. people bash the ps4 line up.. but I see absolutely nothing of interest on the xbone.. any other games I do see are cross platform.

That's why most people I know are going to wait. At best you get one a little later (I plan to for Christmas if all goes well) that you expect to play more on and you wait o the 2nd for it to have a few exclusives worth getting. At this point I don't see many of those types coming to the PS4 until at least February, if we go with how long it takes to developer titles the ones that didn't make the launch date cut could see the light of day around then. Otherwise we're talking March-May probably.

Resogun is the only thing on that list that really interests me.
Maybe NFS, but that series is completely hit-or-miss.

There are a few titles there that I would be interested in getting if I were to get the PS4 on launch day, but none of those titles make me want to get the PS4 on launch day. I can happily wait.

I have to say, nothing on that list to get me interested. If I get a PS4 down the line, in 2014, it'll have to be for any exclusive JRPGs at this point.

Same here. I see nothing I want. I know KillZone is supposed to be a graphics showcase, but my experience with the franchise in the past was always disappointing. I might retry it in the future but I'm not buying a PS4 at release.

The PS4 launch lineup is abysmal. "Sound Shapes" "Flower" "Knack" These are the amazing Sony First Party exclusives?

You know you are in trouble when Killzone is getting top billing. The metacritic on the Killzone franchise shows it to be a pretty mediocre 70-80% FPS franchise. It's amazing to me that after so many flops in the Killzone series not only does Sony continue to produce new games, but has the balls to try to sell it as a AAA shooter.

The launch line up looks fine to me. Especially compared the Xbox one. "Quality vs Quantity" is certainly good, but "Qaulity" is the eye of the gamer. Just because YOU don't like a game, doesn't mean it's worthless or "not a good launch line up".

Which is why, if you're replying to me at least, I said "I" and so on. I'm speaking for myself here.
