Sony Xperia Z2 arriving in the UK on May 1st

The Xperia Z2, the latest flagship smartphone from Sony will be generally available in the UK starting 1 May while pre-ordered devices will start shipping from April 14th.

Due to limited available stocks, Sony is believed to have pushed back the general availability of the Z2 to May. However, retailers Carphone Warehous and Phones4U, who accepted pre-orders for the smartphone have enough units to ship to the pre-order customers and will do so very soon. Phones4U has announced that shipping will start from April 14th for these customers.

Sony announced the Xperia Z2 at the Mobile World Congress 2014 and the smartphone has been highly anticipated by customers around the world due to its top of the line specifications and attractive design.

The smartphone features a Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor running at 2.3GHz and 3GB of RAM, a 5.2-inch IPS LCD display with 1920x1080 resolution, 16GB of built-in storage and a MicroSD card slot for expansion, a 20.7-megapixel camera with 4K recording capability and a wide set of connectivity options.

Additionally, the Z2 is a IP58 certified dust proof and water resistant device similar to its predecessor, the Xperia Z1.

Its like each flag ship phone has something wrong with it.

HTC One M8 - camera is not as good as others
Samsung S5 - plastic case and touchwiz along with personal annoyance that the 'back' button is on the right
Z5 - No 'super' power save mode and quite big

I moved from Nokia to HTC when the original Desire came out, I then went to the One x - I wont be sticking with HTC anymore until they sort their upgrade process out and also look at their camera quality. It's a shame because i think Sense UI and the metal case are brilliant.

nice. but too big. stay at 5 inches max. also shame on the small sensor. the original Z1 was supposed to have larger sensor, then they lost nerve.

First time moving away from HTC for me. Was going to be an S5 but this seems to have a nicer build quality. I love everything about the new HTC One apart from the camera. I like the camera button on Z2 as well

I felt the same before I got my Z1, but the alternative was a Lumia WP so new OS to me, or a HTC One and I don't rate HTC. Can't be happier with my Z1, it's awesome.

I think its just you, but I on the other hand would never buy a samsung phone, they feel cheap and plastic and the amount of crap installed is unbelieveable.

My last two phones have been HTC - the Wildfire (crap) and the HTC One X (got upon release and unfortunately was plagued with all the issues and now the battery is draining too quick for me (not that it was massive to start with)

For my next phone I was seriously considering the Z2 as it ticks an awful lot of boxes. Well either that or the LG G2, as I was trying to avoid HTC next time around (mainly for a change and also because of their policy on not supporting their phones for too long).

I would. Maybe. I don't see why not. But I would certainly not buy if it were running Android.

I'm very happy with my ZL. I don't know why you wouldn't ever buy a Sony phone. They're very good. Give them a shot.
