Sophos Acquires Agnitum's OutPost To Build Firewall Product

Sophos, provider of computer security for businesses, announced today it has acquired an award-winning client firewall technology and expertise in a non-exclusive transfer deal with Agnitum Ltd

Sophos will use Agnitum's Outpost Pro product as a technology base to integrate into Sophos's suite of products designed specifically for networked environments.

Sophos are due to announce significant product upgrades in mid-february focussed on interception of new viruses and emerging spam campaigns.

Jan Hruska, chief executive officer, Sophos said the company was "committed to providing a best-of-breed integrated security suite for its customers, which is why we've chosen to acquire award-winning firewall technology".

Sophos originally started providing Anti-Virus solutions to companies and combined this late 2003 when the company acquired anti-spam specialist ActiveState. Looking to the future the company is clearly ahead of the curve in providing protection at all points of the network.

Popularity of Sophos's products has fueled growth in the company. Employee numbers have increased by 38% over the past 12 months.
