Spike TV to show Microsoft's pre-E3 press conference live June 6

Unless you are one of the lucky few that were invited to physically attend Microsoft's pre-E3 press conference this year in Los Angeles, you might think that you would have to wait until you read about it on various web sites. However, this year Microsoft is teaming with the Spike TV to broadcast the 90 minute press briefing on June 6 live at 12:30 pm Eastern time on June 6.

If you are not in front of a TV during that time, you can also check out a high definition streaming video version of the broadcast on Gametrailers.com. Live streaming video of the event will also be made available on MTV.com, Spike.com, Xbox.com/e3, the Facebook web site and mobile platforms. If you are in Times Square in New York City, you can also catch the Xbox 360 press briefing live on the big screens at that location. Finally, Xbox 360 console users will be able to download the HD video version of the press briefing after it is broadcast.

Microsoft is expected to show off a number of upcoming Xbox 360 games at the event including new footage of its exclusive shooter Gears of War 3. We can also expect to see more games that will support its Kinect motion controller camera that launched last November.

Microsoft isn't the only company planning to hold big pre-E3 press conferences on Monday, June 6. Sony is also expected to hold its pre-E3 press briefing on that day and publishers Ubisoft and Electronic Arts will hold their own big press events on that same date. On Tuesday June 7, just before E3 2011 opens up its exhibit doors at the LA Convention Center, Nintendo will hold its E3 press conference where it will officially unveil its next generation game console.

seems a little bigger then just showing off a few new games ans kinect.... why go through the trouble to broadcast it on tv if its not a major announcement coming?

So why not broadcast it on XBL directly to consoles?

Cause now they can charge SpikeTV for the privilege of covering it.

They seem to be Microsoft's in house media outlet. Tell them to get their act together and do some smooth streaming and make it available on console.

I wish they would broadcast it in Britain. It's something I'd expect Channel 4 or FIVE to do on one of their other channels.

I'd say Five, due to the fact that they have their Gadget Show.
Would be nice to see it over here on the big screen compared to using my little laptop!

shows like AOTS and X-Play has coverage for stuff like this. But they can only show so much. For Spike TV, I'm guessing it's constant showing of the events.

I miss the days when Xbox live used to have full event coverage on the dashboard for these shows.. whatever happened to that? Spiketv sucks.. says we'll be able to download it, but it seems like slim pickings with what we see available online vs what is broadcasted these days. They used to be better at this i guess they felt when they launched zune marketplace they didn't have to do their own content anymore
