LucasArts Entertainment Company announced an official release date today for the PC version of Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided, their ambitious multiplayer online RPG. The game's launching on computers April 15, a few months later than they originally planned.
"Through the launch of Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided this spring, which we liken to that of a blockbuster movie opening, LucasArts will deliver on its promise to transform online gaming into mainstream entertainment," said Simon Jeffery, president of LucasArts. "We are extremely confident about the long term strength of the Star Wars Galaxies brand and its potential to redefine online gaming."
The PC version of Galaxies is "nearly system and feature complete" (according to LucasArts' official page) and currently undergoing its second stage of beta testing. The third beta phase is scheduled to begin in early 2003.
