Supreme Commander Demo

Supreme Commander Demo

Quote -
For a thousand years, three opposing forces have waged war for what they believe is true. There can be no room for compromise: Their way is the only way. Dubbed The Infinite War, this devastating conflict has taken its toll on a once peaceful galaxy and has only served to deepen the hatred between the factions.

After centuries of struggle, the battle for supremacy has at last reached a turning point. Under your strategic command and leadership, only one faction will reign supreme. Will you be victorious and elevate your race to domination? Or will you lead them into the hell of defeat and ultimate extinction?

Delivering one of the most advanced and innovative features of any RTS game, Supreme Commander establishes a breathtaking new standard for sheer scope and scale of gameplay. Massive battles unfold across maps of unparalleled size and scope and thousands of units fight to the bitter end.

* Scale: Witness tiny assault bots get crushed underfoot by towering mega units, or watch as smaller attack bombers try in desperation to bring down a gigantic experimental unit.
* Scope: Concentrate on individual ground battles or zoom all the way out in a single, seamless motion that reveals the full theatre of war. Plan and unleash multiple strategic attacks from this strategic vantage point.
* Dominate your enemies by coordinating strategic ground, naval and air attacks. Initiate a crippling air strike with your attack bombers and support them with a ground assault of heavy and light artillery that demolish the opposing faction's main base. Exterminate your foes once and for all by sinking their aircraft carriers with a surprise submarine attack

The screen shots, game play videos, and overall ad campaign have made this game look awesome.. however the demo ruined that for me. I had high hopes for this to be a good RTS, then after spending roughly 2 hours with the demo I can see that is not the case.

This is just one more click fest to see how fast you can build a horde of enemies and send them at people, no "real" strategy required. As for "zooming in and out of the theater of war" all I can say is good luck with that! While it does add visual appeal it adds nothing to unit control or effectiveness, in other words you'll spend 99% of you time fully zoomed out sending hordes of units towards your enemy since micromanagement of battles is pointless.

Some may argue that 2 hours isn't long enough to fully develop an opinion about a game, I propose that if you aren't having fun and get excited about the game in the first 30 minutes of game play then the game will NEVER appeal to you! If I hadn't been wasting time until UFO: Afterlight showed up I wouldn't have played this game for even 2 hours.

I never liked Total Annihilation as it's focusing on quantity than quality to win the game :{
I assume it's the same as this one?

Indeed it is apparently, I'd love to play it as I use to play TA a lot. But I haven't played an RTS in so long I'd go insane with frustration! :P

Yes! Yyyeesss! Haha, I'm so excited to play this game! Total Annihilation was (and still is) an absolutely stellar RTS. I can't wait to get home and download this demo.
