Surface 2 vs Surface RT gallery

The Surface 2 and Surface 2 Pro are now on-sale and we thought, since many of you have been asking, it would be helpful to compare the Surface 2 next to the Surface RT.

So, to help you understand the small differences between the two physical exteriors of the device, we posted comparison shots below for your viewing pleasure.

One thing we want to highlight is that the new Surface 2, with its new magnesium color, feels fantastic in your hands. The coloring kind-of feels like a powder-coat application and no matter what it is, it feels better than the Surface RT in your hands.

If you have any questions, let us know in the comments as we prepare our review of the device over the next 24 hours.

They really don't look that different, aside from the Surface 2's color. Honestly, I wasn't as impressed as I thought I'd be.

Mine's probably waiting on my doorstep right now. I can't wait to see if seating the charger is as annoying as my current one is. I hate having to fiddle with it to get it in place.

If Microsoft learned from their $900,000,000 write off mistake, they would cut the Surface RT (2)price down to $250, which is about the sweet spot. Microsoft is going to have to take a loss to increase their sales of the Surface 2 tablet, its either that or another massive sales write off . The surface rt (2) is an exceptional tablet, but not so much the price.

Or they can just not build as many.

it was not a write off, it was a write down. a write down means "we didn't earn as much as we thought" and not "we lost this much"

The new Neowin logo (bottom right of the images ) looks nice! Too bad Microsoft doesn't offer an option for choosing your color (natural or coated).

On my Surface RT I chipped the paint by dropping it on tile (the device/screen is fine), so hopefully this won't chip like mine did.

While they do look very close, the 2 is physically different to a small degree, also it's all about the better performance under the hood with the Tegra 4.
