According to Boy Genius Report, mobile network operator T-Mobile U.S.A. may be getting its first 3G BlackBerry in the form of the rumored BlackBerry Onyx/Driftwood 96XX series handset.

BGR also states that the device will launch with an optical trackpad, despite not making an appearance in the leaked shots. As evidenced by the other unreleased BlackBerry, the 8520 Curve or "Gemini", the Canadian handset maker seems to be doing away with the traditional trackballs.

Specs of the device include:

  • 480×360 Resolution screen
  • AWS 1700MHz + 2100MHz UMTS/HSDPA
  • 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera
  • GPS
  • Wi-Fi
  • QWERTY keyboard
  • Optical trackpad

There is no word on pricing as of yet, but BGR says that $199 for a 2 year contract should be the upper limit for this device.
