TechSpot: Cooler Master HAF 912 mid tower ATX case review

Two years ago Cooler Master introduced a new full tower case called the HAF 932. HAF stands for High Air Flow, and with three huge 200mm fans pre-installed Cooler Master had found an appropriate name for this newcomer. The HAF became so popular that it spawned a whole new series, with later additions coming in a variety of sizes and colors, like the smaller HAF 922, a 932 AMD Edition, the HAF X, 932 Black and 922 Red.

The latest entry to the HAF line-up is their smallest and most affordable model yet, the mid-tower HAF 912 is already selling for $59.99.

Bearing a striking resemblance to the 922, the 912 is only marginally narrower and shorter. However the 912 deviates from previous HAF models in other ways, such as losing some of the tool-less capabilities, while picking up support for 2.5" drive mounting, a popular option with the recent explosion of SSD use.

What an ugly monster. Looks like something only people that have to over-compensate for something would buy...

Yes, but all the gauze is there so you can put pretty lights inside!

yeah like my brother. It's a show off case. Then when something doesn't go right I gotta go over there and fix it. Now they're changing ATI's name. oh well. At one time in 2006 he had a computer problem, when I visited him turns out he had this massive copper heatsink over his cpu that was so freaking heavy it snapped the motherboard. Right thru the CPU socket. o_O SHOW OFF!!!

teenage market is how it looks to me...

Exactly what I was going to post. the market is saturated with cheap cases that look like aliens or tanks. Where are the classy ones?! I own a P180 and I'm eagerly waiting for another classy looking, well constructed, silent case.

I have one of the 932's and a friend has another one in the same series, just awesome cases!
I have a 932 too and I couldn't be happier with both the airflow it provides and the way it makes things easier to work on when inside the case because of its big size. My only complain is that they should have included air filters to cover those huge areas, but you can do it yourself...

This new 912 looks nice and its cheap.

It looks like it can be dropped from a second floor window and still keep all the hardware in good shape

looks can be deceiving. My brother has one of these HAF design cases. Big, unique but very thin metal. wouldn't drop this from the first floor. The old Chieftec (one of the original Alienware cases before it went on LSD) now that sucker is heavy. could be dropped out a second floor window and take a chunk of concrete out when it hits.... Can't believe he dropped the chieftec for this POS. It's only a show off case anyway. I want a case that works. Not show off. That and if he ever has problems with that big ass fan on top. have fun.
