Telstra: GDR2 and Amber coming to Lumia 920 tomorrow

Many folks are anxiously awaiting for Nokia to put the finishing touches on the GDR2 and push it out to customers and on that note we’ve got some good news. The Australian carrier Telstra announced that they’ll start pushing the update tomorrow for all Nokia Lumia 920s.

This update consists of GDR2 from Microsoft that addresses some issues and adds a few features to the Windows Phone operating system. And it also includes Amber from Nokia which brings a lot of new features to Lumia smartphones such as call and SMS filters and the Nokia Smart Cam suite. For more info on what the phones are like after getting the update you can check out this thread.

While we’ve already seen the GDR2+Ambers ROMs floating around on Nokia’s servers it’s nice to finally see a carrier officially pushing out the update. Hopefully, other devices, as well as other carriers will start receiving the update soon.

Quit complaining you Lumia owners, I've got a 8X....

The HTC devices have already received GDR2, haven' t they?
Personally I lied the 8x a lot, the 16GB storage was a no go though.

No, it started to go out but had problems and was stopped, I don't have it yet.

already have it on my 1020

And you also have Camera Pro, which is amazing. After flashing my 920 with the French build yesterday I installed Camera Pro and it is way better than anything else I have tested so far.

This fast release makes it seem like Telstra doesn't have finger firmly lodged in butt? However this is the sam company that hasn't been able to launch their own 24*7 app after 9 months of WP8. Fingers crossed non Telstra branded 920's will start getting the update soon, I went out and paid for my phone in full based on the pain experienced from Telstra when running WP7 (namely Nodo and Mango).

sigh I am also not carrier locked and I don't see it yet, I know I can reflash it with navifirm but I don't want to reinstall everything.

Shouldn't unlocked devices be getting these updates faster? I mean there is no carrier that have to approve the update or anything so you ought to think they can push it out faster. Yet I have not received it.

They should indeed. What are you waiting for Nokia?
My guess is that the company is holding the release of the updates to "help" sales of the 925.

Halfway through the month; I'm waiting until my Lumia 820 gets the GDR2 + Amber update. All I know is it's gonna be sometime this month.
