Toyota drops Bing from Entune

Microsoft has signed search agreements with everyone from Yahoo! to Apple but one company, Toyota, is dropping support for Bing in its Entune app suite. Entune is Toyota's infotainment system that is built into the company's vehicles.

Toyota has started sending out notifications to its users that they will be dropping Bing search with the replacement being called Destination Search; it is unclear what engine is powering this new service but it is likely a white label product.

While this loss for Microsoft is likely not a huge issue for its bottom line, the company is fighting fiercely for market share in the search arena which means any loss is a disappointment. That said, we can't imagine that Entune was driving significant traffic for Bing.

Microsoft has signed many high-profile search agreements with the most notable being Yahoo, but the company has also previously inked agreements with Apple to power Siri.

While Bing may not be as popular as Google, Microsoft has woven the search tech deep into Windows 10 and with strong early adoption of the OS, don't be surprised to see its search engine's market share rise as Windows 10 reaches for its goal of one billion devices.
