Having played it on quite a few people's PCs, I completely agree - apparently people had issues but none of the friends I talked to did, and they all said the performance was very impressive compared to other new/nice-looking games. I am seriously looking forward to this game.

I hate how they have to advertise this by saying "from the makers of Gears of War" no big issue but I liked and respected epic much more for Unreal Tournament way before Gears of War came about! I guess they have to smack that on to appeal to all the GOW fans out there....

Look at what Gears of Wars has accomplished and it's not hard to see why they mention Gears of Wars instead of Unreal Tournament. Gears of Wars has done something Unreal Tournament did not--and that is revolutionize how people look at games. Gears of Wars set the standard for next-gen gaming. Up until Gears of Wars, next-gen gaming was just Xbox and PS2 games with beefed up graphics. Gears of Wars was made from ground-up for the Xbox 360 and set the bar for what to expect from next-gen games.

In the brief year Gears of Wars has been on shelves, it has brought home more awards than Unreal Tournament has since 1999. Not to take anything away from Unreal Tournament, but it only makes sense to mention Gears of War instead of Unreal Tournament. And if you only think of "Unreal" and "Unreal Tournament" when you hear "Epic Games," then you need to open your ears and eyes, because they are known for a lot more than that.

Just ordered the Collectors Edition on Play.com because unlike Ficman I thought the demo was excellent - the only problems were lag, and that was due to people hosting servers on their home connections (I did once find a non-laggy server and had an utterly amazing game..... once.)

From the look of it, this game really is going to be what UT's been missing recently... The comical part was after playing UT3, going and playing on a UT2004 server, and realising quite how much the Manta handles like a jet-propelled cow!

My only comment was the Demo was hurting. a TON of folks having problems getting it to load and/or play (check the UT III forums). Game looks really well, some glaring issues though. The Internet interface is a disaster, some of the vehicles leave a lot to be desired as far as response, frame rates are for guys running some pretty decent rigs are hurting and there are some complaints the weapons need a little tweaking.

I'll buy the game no question, I just hope they are able to get some of these issues resolved. It will be a great game, I'm just not sure it will be a great game right out of the box...
