USB 3G modems won't fit in the MacBook Air

Ouch, we just tested and confirmed that one of the smallest (and thus likeliest to fit) USB EV-DO modems around, the Sprint / Novatel U727, won't even come close to fitting in the cramped, foldaway USB port on the MacBook Air. Most flash drives will probably be okay, but it looks like 3G users will either need powered USB hubs or a USB extension cable to get online where WiFi isn't available (read: most places). Of course, your mileage may vary -- we recommend testing your modem of choice on a live machine in an Apple store before dropping any coin.

I'm sure the Apple version of a USB extender won't cost more than, say $11.
Hmm, let's see - part actually costs less than $1 to make, PC version is $2 = $11 Apple sale price.
Sure sounds about right.

i guess there's gonna be a market for usb extention adapters... if they exist..

You're kidding right???

USB Extensisons have been around since... well... since USB has been on computers.

I'd rather not have my USB devices dangling from a 0.5m cable thanks. I'm pretty sure they could somehow design a USB port with better access.

dont be a ring piece joseph, how can you say this isnt suppost to happen? usb dongles are all the same, as kraized and pc maddness says, it comes wiv a small extension cable incase you do get this problem, i hate it when stupid so say 'news' events come out with rot like this!

the problem is this isn't suppose to happen.
a good design is timeless... this ·"$"·%$"· wil have to be updated.

My 3G USB Modem already comes with a USB extension cable so I don't see what the problem is. Just buy a cable if you don't have one.
