uTorrent 3.4.1 Build 31395

utorrent

µTorrent is an efficient and feature rich BitTorrent client for Windows sporting a very small footprint. It was designed to use as little CPU, memory and space as possible while offering all the functionality expected from advanced clients. µTorrent was written with efficiency in mind. Unlike many torrent clients, it does not hog valuable system resources - typically using less than 6MB of memory, allowing you to use the computer as if it weren't there at all. Additionally, the program itself is contained within a single executable less than 1.0 MB in size.

What's new in this version:

  • Added: Easy way to identify left hand advertisement as advertisement
  • Fixed: Bug causing the DHT to restart

Mine looks exactly like yours with the exception of one thing. I have a link in the toolbar that says "Take our survey". How were you able to remove it?

I don't know what you mean, because since the 1st time they introduced ads, i changed the settings, at the advanced options and have never seen anything for years now.
Or just try what the user @temis writes in his comment, above!

where the pause button?
i remember seeing one on older version, but on this new version i can only pause using context-menu.

Time to show a proper screenshot for utorrent. Ive never seen utorrent look anything like the screenshot above, and ive used every version and every build.
Very clean and unbloated interface and super fast, always has been.

Well the screenshot looks up to date to me. You probably applied the remove adverts tweaks long ago and they've persisted throughout the updates.

You can use the latest version and keep all the crap from loading :

Here's how :

1. Open the uTorrent application.

2. Click "Options" and then select "Preferences" from the menu bar at the top of the page.

3. Select the "Advanced" option from the list on the left hand side of the preferences window.

4. You will see a box with a long list of advanced options in the center of the window,
from this list, scroll down and click to highlight "gui.show_plus_upsell" - or use the filter function to find it.

5. Below the box, there is an option to change the value to either "True" or "False".
Select the "False" value. (This option disables the square ad in the bottom left corner of the application.)

6. Search the following items and set them to "FALSE" :

"gui.show_plus_upsell"
"gui.show_notorrents_node"

"offers.sponsored_torrent_offer_enabled"
"offers.left_rail_offer_enabled"
"offers.content_offer_autoexec"

7. Click "OK" and then Exit.

8. Open uTorrent and enjoy using uTorrent without those annoying ads !

9. Done !

Even if the app auto updates, it will throw up setup wizard where if offers me some annoying download.

Feels like abandoning this software.

It's not that; if he's like me, he has a What.cd account. They don't have Tixati on their Whitelist unfortunately. Otherwise I would still be using it. I've gone with qBittorrent, and it works real good.

I don't have What.cd account. The dude NyaR is just not getting our point :)

Ah, okay. :-) But I've abandoned uTorrent too. I realize that there's all the hoops you can jump through to get it to stop showing ads, but qBittorrent has it without doing anything, along with permanent Categories.

I stopped using this app and switched to qBittorent. It continued to display those little ads at the top. The thing I like about qBittorent is that I can create categories, and they are permanently there, even if you aren't downloading something in those categories. In uTorrent, if you remove a torrent in a category and there's nothing else, you have to re-type it to create it again. I really liked Tixati, but What.cd doesn't have it on its Whitelist.

"the program itself is contained within a single executable less than 1.0 MB in size."

i believe this sentence should change with the latest versions passed 1.0 MB already...

That's right; i think it was less than 200K at first versions... Though later on it got bigger and bigger.

Though i'm not complaining at all; it's so tiny even right now.
