Verizon's Samsung ATIV Odyssey coming January 24th for $49.99

Verizon has announced that the Samsung ATIV Odyssey will be available online and in stores starting Thursday, Jan. 24 for $49.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and new two-year customer agreement.

The specifications of the device are as expected, including a 4.0-inch 800 x 480 Super AMOLED display, 1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 chipset, 1 GB of RAM, a 5-megapixel camera, 2100 mAh battery and 8 GB of on-board storage plus a microSD card slot.

While the device is naturally designed for Verizon's CDMA/LTE network, it is also a "Global Ready" device, meaning it will also work in more than 220 countries thanks to an additional GSM radio.

The device will be another addition to Verizon's Windows Phone 8 lineup that includes the HTX 8X and Lumia 822

Will this run on UK 3G networks? I want a 4" WP8 Phone but the 8S has no storage for apps and the 620 looks like a kids toy. I'd buy it off ebay if I knew it would work on UK 3G networks.

This phone is basically a Droid Charge with updated specs and a different OS. Its ugly. I wouldnt buy it. I rather have the Ativ S. At least ATT understands its business customers which is why they have them all. VZW is a joke when it comes to Windows. This is why you dont sell very many...you pick the ugliest one in the bunch.

Well at least you have the HTC 8x

Why not the Ativ S...VZW? Is this your commitment to Windows Phone 8? No wonder you cant sell any. You arent a budget carrier like T-Mobile or US Cellular, so why carry cheap phones?

This phone is small and ugly. I mean who is going to buy this from you? Mostly businesses use Windows devices. So how do you expect to attract businesses to drop ATT for VZW if you cant even offer them something worth making the move for?

This is a joke VZW!

the nokia and htc flagships made us spoiled with splashy and sophisticated stylings. this is just meh, generic android look.

Better specs than Nokia Lumia 620, don't know about retail price and when it will come in Pakistan but desperately looking forward.

Nice! Might not be the best in the specs, but that battery life should be pretty awesome considering it's only a 4.0" display.
What? The Specs? 1.5Ghz Dualcore? No different from the US versions of the Galaxy S 3 which also are all dualcore. Whats so bad about the specs...its a budget phone. What do you expect for $99...a quadcore? 2GB of RAM?

I mean really?!

Considering it's price point, it's not bad. But, you can still do better when you compare phones to the likes of Lumia 920, and even GS3. The camera on this is meh, the screen is 'small' and low resolution, low capacity of storage. You can already get a GS3 for $50 with a 2 year contract, and with the GS4 right around the corner, the prices on GS3 and 'older' generation of phones will become cheaper. This is at most a $49.99 phone (without rebates). Even the Lumia 822 is a better value, with better features.

look below I said similar. I too said it should just be 49,99 with contract and that the mail in rebate is stupid. You cant get a GS3 for $100 bucks just yet unless its a special, but yes it will be the norm as new models appear.

I too say the Lumia 822 is better if you must stick with VZW. But they should have fought for the 920. Businesses stick with ATT fo 2 reasons, they have GSM and they have better device options. For VZW to have more subscribers vs ATT, they could buy better phones.

VZW's biggest complaint was low sells of Windows Mobile devices. Well yes because you always chose the worse of the models. The only good one they had was the Treo, but everyone had that model. After that VZW fell from grace.

THis device and that HTC Trophy were just to plane..but I would take the Trophy over this. Thank god for the HTC 8x and Lumia 822.
