Who needs December? Jelly Bean skips December from Date Picker

It came as a shock to many when Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) users discovered Google had forgotten to include the month of December on the Date Picker feature of the People application. We know that the error has now been reviewed by Google and a fix is on its way, but we have no idea how this was even missed out in the first place.

We’ve always thought that calendars have been something of a problem to manufacturers and software developers, considering how Microsoft and Sony messed up its leap year for their respective games consoles, the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and we know Apple has made errors with the UK bank holidays displayed in iOS earlier this year.

With Google being one of the world’s biggest companies, it seems unlikely that it would mess up with something as simple as just including all the months in a year, unless it’s just Google’s way of avoiding the foretold Mayan apocalypse.

We’ll keep you posted when a fix is available.

I love how the Android fanboys are defending this as a non-issue. Had it been Microsoft.. hah.. it would rain fire and brimstone. I'm glad world favorite company still is run by normal human beings that proof that to err is human. Now, at least I can tell the people who's birthday is in December, that I didn't forgot them, its just that I had no way of knowing :-)

im so tired of watching all these headlines everywere android 4.2 this JB this, but the fact is its the people app issue not the android 4.2 issue as a whole. for example your calander works just fine, your date works just fine.

That's some crappy-ass quality control right there

And I'm sure this kind of bugs doesn't happen with other software/systems

I'm not saying it doesn't. Hell, just look at Apples (in)famouse Daylight savings bugs that plagued them for about 3 years.

What, not having 12 months in a calendar year - easy mistake to make.
(at least bank holidays and leap years are fractionally more challenging)

Come on people! Don't you know that Christmas time has some many celebrations that Birthdays are not neccesary!

It's quite funny because my birthday is actually on Christmas day, and now I think Google hates me.
