You and 4 of your friends are wrong...

It's a great player, if you want it to use less resources then use classic skins + uninstall plugins that you don't use.

Or i could still use foobar... or i could use install foobar and then install the plugins i need...

tbh i don't know why we're having this argument. people use winAmp because it does enough for their needs. i don't use it because it doesn't.

It's nice that they're still improving winamp, it doesn't really run that slow on my computer, foobar still takes the least resources but I never liked the interface. So I still prefer winamp+mpc.

Foobar has a pretty ugly presentation. I don't use Winamp either, but from what I've used, it's a pleasant application to have sitting on your desktop.

well what do you use? ... cause for playing mp3 files i find standard windows media player 9/10/11 etc pretty slow compared to winamp lite ... plus it (windows media player) dont offer as much sound customization options (basically a equalizer) as winamp lite does.

I dont listen to music on my pc. I've got an mp3 player for that.

winamp lite is the only "good" version of winamp left... the only thing i use winamp for is playing mp3 files... video wise i use "media player classic".

winamp "LITE", it just loads up fast and sounds real good with a solid interface and it's nice and compact and dont take up much of the screen + it has a equalizer .... cant really beat that ... foobar aint bad but it takes up to much of screen and it's interface is pretty dull looking the last i knew.... plus i dont think it "sounds" as good as winamp does either.

Me and 4 of my friends (real life friends ) were wrong...

does high number of IE users make Internet Explorer good ?

"there's over 1.2 billion people smoking worldwide" 1.2 billion people eh ? they can't be wrong

It appears to be more vulnerable than other browsers because it is used so much more than other browsers.

Did you ever hear a smoker say that it's good for your health?
It's an addiction and a habit!

Oh my gosh. We had this exact same discussion every time Winamp get updated; it's bloated, it's ugly, the old 2.95 version was the best, i use Foobar, the best is Foobar, Winamp is spyware, Winamp is dead.....but we forget a thing:

Actually there's nothing better than Winamp in terms of:

- size
- flexibility
- interface
- plugins
- frequent updates
- high audio quality output

And number of users :

In 2005 Winamp grew from 33 million monthly users to over 52 million monthly users, making it by some counts the third most actively used media player globally

50 million users can't be wrong don't you think ?

I still love winamp 5.x vs media player or really anything I'm ever looked at. However I have very clean tags on my tunes so the library works like it should. people with messy files are up the creek no matter what they use.

I disagree! Winamp updates were fine untill version 2.97. After that, it all went to hell.

Version 2.98 was when I switched to Windows Media Player, and I've never looked back.

I still have the latest non beta version of Winamp installed, but I use it now as a tool, not my media player of choice.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. Winamp has continued to improve steadily ever since it's release and has never stopped. I can't think of a better media player (except maybe foobar, but I still prefer Winamp).
