Windows 7 build 7127 leaked

Redmond is still running low on Joe the plumbers as another Windows 7 leak surfaces today.

This time around it's the second RTM branch build to leak, 7127. Approximately a month after 7106 leaked. The build string is 7127.0.090507-1820 meaning it was compiled just over a week ago so it's still fresh off the blocks. Microsoft is progressing steadily with the RTM branch and company insiders have indicated the software giant is well on target to finalise the RTM build over the summer. Our guess? Late June or early July.

Microsoft is expected to announce general availability of Windows 7 for before the Christmas period, cashing in on holiday PC purchasers.

of course it is "unofficially" sanctioned. Even "so-called" internal messages posted on ms intranets have been leaked.

Not only does it provide risk-free testing, it increases the amount of distribution units. Therefore everyone is not banging on MS servers.

This time MS is doing it right - if you want to introduce a new O/S - then let the techs have it. Isn't that smarter then showing end users "how easy it is to create a panaromic photograph" Ha Ha!!

can i upgrade my RCbuild to this build?will it retain our setting?thx

you can do but i wouldnt recommend it, may be more buggier

Wonder if WMC is less buggy when using an Xbox as an extender than it is in the RC.

I am really thinking of going back to Vista or maybe just caving in and getting a DVR from TWC. I have been using WMC for years but the constant issues of connection, bad digital recordings (or no recordings because WMC has a fit), bugs and having to adjust my antenna all the time makes me wonder if a TWC DVR at $20 a month would just be worth my hassle.

If Microsoft would support cable cards more, this would solve half the issues but it seems I am hoping for too much. If it makes sense, Microsoft probably hasn't thought of it yet.

The issue with cable cards lies with the cable companies. They will not allow you to build your own HTPC and get a card for it. It has to be on the "approved" list of PCs.

Hi JonathanVP

I had the same problemwith upgradingfrom vista.
Another time the upgrade process faulted in the middle and I lost my C drive

Did a clean install and it works like a dream

I also had that problem while uprgading from 7077 to 7100 on my laptop, after upgrade failure all the permissions got messed up, so I had no access to C: , but still I could go to any C: subfolder by typing exact path and hopefully got working network sharing to my librarys (but to access my laptop from other computer I've should type IP address instead of computer name) where all the needed files was, so I did backup and then format C and clean install.

Thanks guys, I ended up reformatting my laptop and installing 7127. Strange cause when I upgraded 7127 over 7100 on a test desktop machine, everything worked just fine.

C00L !
I installed the December leak on a clean computer and it works like a charm...

Has anyone *dared* to upgrade a working, main computer? I'm still runnning XP, never switched to Vista but I'm tempted to upgrade my XP version with this Win7 leak...

Also, I think these versions are set to stop working at some point... any workarounds for that?

Been using Windows 7 ONLY for weeks! Course at the start it was a fresh install. Then after the 7000 just been upgrading and will continue to upgrade until the final release where I will do a clean install =)

I have been running the Win 7 x64 RC on my main PC and two laptops as the main OS and have had no problems whatsoever. Absolutely love it. I have just been using Vista64 drivers when needed (and the manufacturer does not have Win 7 drivers) and works fine.

I wonder if this build would be bug-free as far as Windows Games (Freecell and the like). In 7100, at some point and for some unknown reason, the games had blank screens when started, and chess titans refused to load.

This was actually the only reason I couldn't use 7100 (my olds play those games often). If 7127 is free of this bug, then I could see myself using Windows 7 for sure.

I was using the latest Nvidia drivers at the time. I may test again at some point with 7127, once my data quota refreshes on the 19th (my timezone).

I reckon its Microsoft themselves that are purposely leaking the builds ;)

Yup, way to many builds since the first leak for it to be 'accidental'. I'm certainly not complaining, all the feedback on the net for all the builds leaked to date is win-win (no pun intended) for both end user and Microsoft. Don't shut that tap off just yet Redmond...keep on leakin' !

Oh, yeah. And once RTM leaks, it's also MS.

Beta builds is plausible, think of the benefits to MS, RTM - ease off on the sarcasm dude.

Agreed on this. :)

This is at least an excellent way to keep the buzz going while taking zero responsibility for the support.

I guess all those trojan horse inside the w7 leaks are from MS trying to build a huge zombi network of PCs ... yeha sure ...

What people do with the builds after they are leaked has nothing to do with whether MS is leaking them on purpose or not.

What? Since when? Source? Why haven't I seen news of this?

Total confusion here. Am I the only one that hasn't heard a word of this?

Antaris said,

Maybe, but I know for a fact that this leak came from someone that hasn't leaked before, and that works outside MS.

How are the two connected? By your logic Apple never actually released iLife because someone repackaged it with a trojan.

I agree. I'm using the RC as my main OS - the first time I have ever done this with effectively a beta OS - and I have no complaints at all, it is so so so much better than Vista. XP Mode - wow, what an awesome idea! Big thumbs up.

Have you actually *tried* XP Mode? I actually said the same thing when I first heard about it... but then the inevitable happened; I tried it and it needs a lot of improvements.

The RC build is working wonders on my laptop. I think i will do more testing before moving to newer builds.

Note tho, there is a major difference between RC and new RTM beta builds
the RC has no debug code so it performs faster and lighter.

Is what he's saying true? I would think 7127 is faster than 7100. What do you guys think??

I've only used the beta and RC, but Vista, 7 Beta and 7 RC all seem to be about the same speed to me, so I'm happy with the performance. I keep hoping to see a glimpse of the things I felt were missing in the new taskbar, but no luck so far. (I'd like to be able to pin any shortcut to any icon, for example.)

You already can pin any shotcut to the taskbar

No, I took that to mean that the RC is clean of debug code, and the later leaked versions are betas of the RTM and hence have debug code back in them. Therefore the newer builds are actually slower.
