Windows 7 RC build 7100 leaks

Redmond still haven't called that plumber, the official RC build has leaked online at the usual places.

We revealed yesterday that the Windows 7 RC build was 7100 and according to many Neowin members the x86 version has leaked just a short time ago.

We expect the RC will be available to the public shortly and Redmond could still hit the rumored May 5th date. There is speculation the software giant will hold off until May 15th, the last day of Tech-Ed 2009.

Installed (fresh) 7100 x64 after having used 7068 (upgraded from vista x64 sp1) for a couple of weeks.
I have mixed feelings about this build with responsiveness not as snappy and explorer hanging on security warning.

For some unknown reason I couldn't transfer my firefox profile from build 7077 to RC build 7100, had to re-install all extensions, themes, bookmarks etc.

you gotta copy 2 folders:
C:Users[Your Username]AppDataLocalMozilla
AND C:Users[Your Username]AppDataRoamingMozilla

But make sure u start firefox to create those folders new first, in case it overwrites the old ones

Is this basically the same as 7077 then? I notice that the build date in the string is the same, 7100 just completed later in the day by a few hours.

Question: If this is presumably the same thing as the upcoming public RC will be, then where is the Send Feedback button or icon? How can one submit bugs, when there's no easy way to do it!?

I suspect because it won't be in the RTM.

The tool I believe will be left in the RTM (at least I hope so, will be helpful to be able to provide feedback to help shape future service packs), but it is going to be removed from all application Windows for obvious cosmetic reasons.

Managed to get my score up to 3,1 now, with the latest GMA965 driver from intel.com.
I guess its OK for now.
Lets wait for some proper drivers for Seven...

Some weird problems with my X61s and Intel x3100. Experience Index got stuck at Direct3D 10 ALU and crashed on the nex run after restart. "Windows System Assessment Tool has stopped working".
Guess im gonna try Vista drivers then...

-edit- Vista driver completed the test OK but gave me only 2.0 for Gaming. (in Vista it was 3.5)
Actually it looks like the original driver crashed right after Windows Media Decoding test.

Buggy intel drivers!?

apparently there must be a problem with a combination of Sata and IDE style drives. I can not be sure of this but I would definatly keep this in mind if other people are having similar issues.

HEHEHE.. I'VE GOT IT ALLREADY.. I TOLD U IT WAS GOING TO BE LEAKED TOMORROOW..LOOL..CHECK OUT av33.deviantart.com/ LOL

Just shut up before I beat you to death with your Caps lock key.

cversion Min client says 7077 in mine... i am curious if it's a fake - a 7077 renamed 7100 - or not ? But md5 matches what Jugalator listed.

This is amazing. For the first 10 minutes, I was getting ~15 KB/s download, then all the sudden I'm getting 700-900 KB/s! ETA is only 1h 3m and it's 6% done. I've never been able to download this fast.

Now I'm geting 1.5 MB/s!

Faisal : It's OLD build - compiled on 04.04.
RC build is only 7100.
Afterwards there were 7105/7106 (pre-RTM branch)
Currently there is the build 7115 compiled.

Wrong.

RC is 7100, but it's one of the newer builds which were done recently. 7100 was reserved so that whatever build they felt was best would become RC.

Anyone tried installing it yet?

I've tried to upgrade it from 7057 and it says it can't upgrade... So do I assume I have to do a clean install?

I found this info that might help:

Microsoft recommends users to do a clean install rather than upgrading from Windows 7 Beta (or any other builds) to Windows 7 RC build. It is not possible to upgrade your Windows 7 Beta to RC unless you bypass the check for the pre-release upgrade. Even though this is not recommended by Microsoft, below are the steps to bypass this check (from the E7 blog):

â€Â¢Download the ISO as you did previously and burn the ISO to a DVD
â€Â¢Copy the whole image to a storage location you wish to run the upgrade from (a bootable flash drive or a directory on any partition on the machine running the pre-release build)
â€Â¢Browse to the sources directory
â€Â¢Open the file cversion.ini in a text editor like Notepad
â€Â¢Modify the MinClient build number to a value lower than the down-level build. For example, change 7100 to 7000
â€Â¢Save the file in place with the same name
â€Â¢Run setup like you would normally from this modified copy of the image and the version check will be bypassed

I have the rapidshare links for both x64 and x86 but not sure if i may post them?

No, you may not.

OK Ive installed it (the 64 bit version), so far it looks identical to build 7077, has the same loading screens, same themes, same GUI, so any changes in this RC must be all under the hood. The watermark in the bottom right-hand corner reads "Windows 7 evalution copy Build 7100" ... now where did I put that Orbit 101 patch!

Hopefully I'll install 7 this afternoon. I haven't tried Windows 7 yet, so i'm curious to try it for the first time.

you'll love it mate, its awesome. i cant wait for this to download currently have 7077 installed on my pc, netbook, laptop and 7000 on my parents laptop

if that isnt love i dunno what is lol

so what exactly does that file name mean?

7100 (build)
0 (?)
090421 ( April 21, 2009)
1700 (?)
x64 (64bit)
fre (?)
client (not server)
en-us (english - united states)
Retail (version)
Ulitmate (version)
GRC1CULXFRER (WTF?)
EN (english i guess again)
DVD (media)

fre - no debugging code (as opposed to dbg)

G RC1 CUL X FRE R

G = General (as opposed to Internal or something?)
RC1 = RC1 (Beta 1 was B1)
CUL = Not sure
X = x64 (This is not there on any x86 release)
FRE = Again, no debug code
R = Not sure

Haha, as soon as I read this news post I got the missus to download it at home as I'm stuck at work. I'm not desperate by any means!

hmm well it might be a technet only release on may 15 and public later. to download the rc the teched site states all attendees will be given a year long technet membership.

So the public might have to wait till later.

depends on what hash algorithm you are about to use ofcourse.

theres plenty of hashes out there. a torrent file is nothing more than an extended hash too. you can check against the hash from the torrented file ofcourse.

Hehe, yeah, true, but here are the untouched ISO hashes anyway.

Well, it's the same as Jugalator's x64 hashes.

that biased swedish judge from some days ago 's favorite website is carrying the stuff in both x64 and x86 from today. there are not many entries to check and you simply type "7100" in the searchbox of your browser on that page and you have em both.

no big deal.

funny thing is somebodys posted a link to it on wikipedia already

getting now cant wait. though i cant see it being much different to 7077

Somehow i feel like this complaining about speed is from people that are caping upload or have **** upload in general. Torrent clients are using choke protocol, if your upload is crap or your share ratio is crap, your download will be crap. Rememeber sharing is caring! I got x86 with avarage ~1.3mb/s and x64 with avarage ~500kb/s (since it was new when i added it), but i also uploaded about 2 to 3 times that much in time download compleated and im still uploading. So stop complaining about speeds OK?

By the time the download will be completed, the RC will be out by Microsoft...

Downloading at a blazing speed of 5k/sec, welcome back to 56Kbps!
