Windows Phone Facebook Beta gets another major update

Windows Phone users are most likely already familiar with the beta version of the Facebook app. This version is a testing ground for new features and designs and it has proven to be a great way to test the latest and greatest of what Facebook has to offer on Windows Phone.

And the app has now received another important update. Facebook Beta is one of the most updated apps on Windows Phone, but this update brings many new features and improvements. If you hit up this Store link you’ll notice a rather impressive changelog:

  • Inline tagging (ability to tag friends)
  • Image attachments in messages
  • Ability to upload multiple images at the same time
  • Save/share photos
  • Navigation improvements
  • Performance improvements

The ability to tag friends in text as well as the ability to upload multiple pictures have been two of the most requested features for this app and it's very nice to see that users' voices are heard. Not to mention performance and navigation improvements are always welcome. All in all the Facebook Beta app is a very dynamic one and definitely worth checking out if you haven't already.

Why is the blue bar up top so big?

I get that WP's design uses large tiles/squares but it seems like an utter waste of screen real estate.

And messages still aren't marked as seen. Probably means still no push messaging either. I can't believe these features are still missing. That's all that's missing for me to delete the iOS version (probably landscape messaging as well).

MS already announced that push messaging is a know issue which they are working on it. It's something to do with the way the facebook system interfaces with Microsoft's. Joe Belfiore (sp?) mentioned it was being worked on now.

Ahh right, thanks for that.

I have to admit, this is looking better than the first party app for iOS now. Fix a few more shortcomings and I'm coming back to the WP8 platform.

Good for you then! Luckily mine is an unlocked HTC 7 Mozart, I can still tinker around, sideload homebrew apps and what not.
