Windows Phone GoComics app has official Calvin and Hobbes strips

Calvin and Hobbes remains one of the most popular newspaper comic strips ever released, even though its reclusive creator Bill Watterson ended the series in 1995 after just over 10 years. The adventures of six year old Calvin and his stuffed tiger Hobbes continue to have a huge fan following.

The rights to the comic strips belong to Andrews McMeel Universal, which posts the official online versions of the old strips on its GoComics website, along with many other current and classic comic strips. This week, the company released the GoComics mobile app simultaneously for iOS, Android and, yes, Windows Phone 7.5/8 platforms.

The app offers access to lots of other comics strips, including classic Peanuts and Dilbert strips, along with Garfield, Foxtrot and many others. The app allows users to share their favorite strips displayed in the app with friends via email and social networks. While the app is free to download, it only offers access to 30 strips at a time from each comic. You can pay a subscription fee on the GoComics website that offers up full achieve access to its many strips for 99 cents a month or $11.88 a year.
