Windows Phone Mango roll-out for all carriers has started

Microsoft has updated their "Where's my phone update" page to announce that all carriers are now pushing out the Windows Phone Mango update. If you own a Windows Phone device, the update should be landing any moment.

While we have all waited what seems like an eternity after Microsoft showed off the new update, the updated goods should be arriving on your Windows Phone device in the very near future. The new update will bring over 500 new features to the platform and will generally improve the overall Windows Phone experience.

Microsoft has put in a lot of effort to get the roll-out to occur simultaneously across all carriers. This broad roll-out is good news for fans of Windows Phone as it shows Microsoft is committed to delivering one round of updates rather than the staggered updates that occurred with NoDo.

Windows Phone, while off to a slow start, has shown considerable gains with the latest update. With the holiday shopping season right around the corner and new hardware on the horizon, Microsoft is hoping for solid sales for the remainder of the year.

Has your device gotten the update yet? If so, let us know about your update experience in the comments below!

Plugged my unbranded Dell Venue Pro in and it came up immediately! I can't wait, I've been trying not to read much about Mango so I can experience it all in one go! Installing at the minute

Zune is saying I'm up to date(7392). I wonder if Telstra is actually releasing the update at all.

edit: I just checked Telstra's twitter page and it's been delayed because it's being released in batches to ensure the release is working correctly

I have Samsung Focus, but I have no idea what firmware version it is. I've checked behind the battery and nothing.
The firmware in the OS says: 2103.11.3.3
If I open the diagnostics, it lists the phone as i917UCKC3

For my Focus, if you pull the battery out of the phone, then behind it is a fairly large sticker. Somewhere on that sticker it should say "REV". "REV 1.3" is the original hardware, "REV 1.4" is the newer hardware.

Well, I received the Samsung update that updated my RTM 7720 to the final carrier (Rogers) revision. I am sad to say that Rogers is currently not offering visual voice mail for the Samsung Focus. I hope carriers realize that that their subscribers would like certain features that should be made available to it's user base.

I have it now, it is truly awesome. So much faster, more responsive and loads of polish to make it a fully fledged OS truly competitive platform.

Ok, weird situation and i need help here,

I was trying to "force" the update via "dc'ing from the net" and it occured to me that zune doesn't even care if i'm not connected to the net to begin with at all - just checks and tells me i'm aup to date. So, major breakthrough, it's using my phones wi-fi! Turned that off (along with the data connection for cellular too) and tried again.

Now here's the weird part, no matter how "late" i dc from the net, zune says it can't check the servers for the update. On my last few attempts, i didn't do anything - left the net connected and tried to see if it could check for an update ; no.

Bottom line ; My zune client can't use the internet connection on my PC to check for updates, my phone HAS TO BE connected to the internet in some way for zune to be able to check for updates.

This is really weird, i'm wondering if i somehow "forbid" zune from connecting to the internet somehow (unlikely as i can browse the marketplace there) - i'm using the standard security essentials set from MS and nothing more - where would one check this?

Just got 7.5 for Verizon Trophy in Western Colorado. No trick just plugged in. I did make sure to *228 this morning so my Verizon programming is up to date.

I've never understood how an update can take more time to install than the OS itself. same with the service packs and windows. I understand there are a LOT of alterations in system files but dang!!!

Don't forget that these updates also backup the contents of your phone, not the media, but everything else (used to do media as well)

Ok guys. I am loving MS for this.
we get Mango. And i was on the beta so what i cant really believe is that the whole update to RTM took just 10 minutes. This is just amazing! 10 minutes and my phone is RTM Mango

this is the best thing so far from MS! and its actually 9 minutes and 40 seconds or so. And i remember mango 7712 took me like 1h30m

Click update -> simultaneously pull the ethernet -> wait 25-30 secs -> plug the ethernet -> Update found

Yep, tried that, and right now it is installing 7403 first. Hopefully it will do 7720 after that.

edit: yes!! It is going on to 7720!!! :-)

Got a connection error at first, then zune stated my phone was up to date.. thanks to your advise, it worked now 7403 first and now installing 7720

I have a trophy on Verizon which seems to have 7.0.7389.0
I've seen no updates on phone or zune.

However, anyone waiting on the update has to love this statement "Important: To help ensure quality, software updates are typically sent out gradually and/or in batches, so it might take several weeks before you receive notice that an update is available for your phone."

Can confirm (sort of) currently pulling down 7392 on both my Focus and my wifes Focus (both v1.3)

Had to use the same trick again -- now it's pulling down 7403...

Can confirm this is working for my HD7 on O2 UK. Wooooooooo!

Did you have to install 7403 first though?

I was trying to update 2 TmoUS HD7s today (one with mango beta, and 1 without) and nogo (HA! nodo update joke.lol). Guess ima have to wait till after work... =(

For people getting the update are you just continually checking for updates in Zune? Is your phone plugged in, or unplugged, browsing internet when the notification pops up, or just phone sitting there?

Killing the net connection during check for updates forces it. Sweet

medium_pimpin said,

Yeah, I tried that with Nodo and could never get it to work.

That trick worked for me, I have to install 7403 on my O2-UK HD7 first though.

Still nothing here. HTC HD7 - The Netherlands using Vodafone group...
To bad Zune updates don't get the update before some random people...

Updating from Beta release right now. First update took about 20 minutes (friends and family update) and its currently soing the "samsung update for windows phone" right now (firmware i'm guessing)

Samsung Focus 1.3 on ATT in texas

Hm... Just got notification on my HTC Trophy (Verizon)... It's installing 7392 though... I guess it has to install that first? Anyone else seeing that? I kind of assumed they'd be rolled up...

Hm... And Mango wasn't waiting for me after this update finished...

Yeah, I plugged in my phone to my computer, and it's like Update found. I got so excited to only find out it was only build 7392 Now when I search for updates, it says nothing found.

Yeah, what's with that? What a disappointment. I thought the updates would be rolled up at this point... I hope Mango's still coming...

Been running mango on HD2 for 2 weeks now, it's amazing, too bad the USSD thing still doesn't work...

That is why you should be using HD7 or one of the new Windows Phone7. I used to have HD2, but MAJOR different using the actual Windows Phone 7 phones.

Went butter smooth on two of my DVPs that were loaded with the offcial developer build. My non-Developer build DVPs show no update.

But no mango for the Omnia 7

Yeah my dad owns one. Was getting all excited for him (hes not that bothered, then again hes your average user ) "Yay! Mango update!" then "GODDAMNIT SAMSUNG!"

Destiny_Await said,

That's not true! I'm using Omnia 7 and it's updating right now.

Not all Omnia 7 models are getting it yet, only some. Including me I think even though I had no problems with Nodo.

Just reread the list, should be damn T-Mobile instead. Sumsung are actually on the ball this time lol

Is this Microsoft having a sense of humor by dangling that carrot and then suddenly announcing that it's going out to everyone today, or do you think the big simultaneous push was just a coincidence?

I think that was the plan, but that there were stragglers (Sprint) so Microsoft didn't want to commit to something that may not have come to pass...

I have AT&T in California Samsung Focus v1.3 that already had "final" mango running from XDA. I just plugged in my phone and the nofication came up stating I needed to update. I presume this happened because the version in Zune said 7.1 instead of 7.5. For everyone that was worried they needed to go back to NoDo doesn't seem to be the case.

OS version: 7.10.7720.68
Firmware: 2103.11.8.1
Hardware: 3.1.0.7
Radio Software: 2103.11.8.1
Radio Hardware: 0.0.0.3
Bootloader: 5.8.0.2
Chip SOC Version: 0.36.2.0

Zune: Current phone software version: 7.10 (7720)

What is it with Samsung? The NoDo update bricked a bunch of their phones (including mine - grrr), their firmware tinkering resulted in delayed updates for some Focus handsets, and now Omnia 7s aren't getting the update until... well, who knows when? There's no detail given on when to expect updates for Omnia 7s on those affected operators.

*shakes fist angrily at Omnia 7 on desk*

Take it easy man! Omnia 7 update is out too. Am updating it on my Omnia 7 now.

This would be amazing if all carriers in US are pushing Mango starting today. Best update strategy! Screw carriers and waiting for updates!

Nothing here yet on Telus.

For quality control, they release updates gradually. It may take several weeks, as the "Where's my phone update?" web site states.

Success, my phone has been updated!

As I had the Beta, after the Mango update is done, there is a second update, this is the "Cleanup" update MS talked about
