Windows Phone to get better encrypted email support

Windows Phone may be getting ready for its Tango upgrade later this year, but what if someone wanted to use a Windows Phone device for more serious tasks? That might require a better and more fully featured encrypted email solution. Today, Good Technology announced plans to team up with Microsoft to offer up its own software solution for Windows Phone enterprise users.

Today's press release announced that its Good for Enterprise software will be released via a downloadable app on the Windows Phone Marketplace sometime in the second quarter of 2012. Good claims that its software will provide business users with FIPS-certified 192 bit AES encryption for mobile mail and messaging.

Good says that this kind of system will help businesses who have employees that purchase their own smartphones but want to use them for work purposes as well.

Tom Trinneer, the director of Product Management for Microsoft's Windows Phone Division, states in the press release:

Good Technology is a leader in providing encrypted email access to enterprise employees. This is why we selected Good as our Windows Phone 7.5 preferred partner solution for secured, encrypted mobile messaging. With its help we can now extend the Windows Phone experience by adding powerful security technologies to enterprise email, enabling busy professionals to stay connected and productive.

Pricing for the Good for Enterprise software for Windows Phone was not announced.
