Windows Small Business Server code name "Aurora" revealed

Following an in-depth overview of Windows Home Server "Vail" we have been digging to find out more information on code name "Aurora".

It appears Rafael Rivera's original discovery that it could be the next generation Small Business Server is spot on. Several different sites belonging to Small Business Server team members have been discovered. The first is http://bjosbs.com/ which belongs to Becky Ochs, program manager for setup and OEM of Windows Small Business Server. On the site it's clear that "Aurora" is part of the Windows Server branding. The second site is https://www.wanderingkiwi.com/ which belongs to Guy Haycock, senior product manager, Windows Small Business Server.

Little is known about "Aurora" yet but it seems it already shares components with "Vail". The remote access console is identical. It's possible that both could share similar codebases with one targeted at small business's (Aurora) and the other at home users and small home office users (Vail).

Neowin questioned Microsoft over our findings but a Microsoft spokesperson declined to comment on Aurora. "We are not ready to discuss future products but will certainly let you know as soon as more details become available."

I made a small blog post to sum up all the information we have about Aurora and Vail so far.
Here it is: http://www.windowswiki.info/2010/02/03/windows-server-code-name-vail-aurora-what-we-know-so-far/

I predict that "Aurora" will be the next step in cloud computing. Microsoft is going to scrape the project because of the secrets that had been revealed, and they will give this codename to the so called "cloud computing OS" instead. :P lol I hope Microsoft did not read my comments on this matter lol.

I love it when I see latest breaking news, I've always hear something like: "[media group] has requested comment from [person or subjects of interests related to the news] but at the time of writing we have not received a response."

Sorry for side-tracking the news comments guys. Now back on track. This is a great discovery. If Neowin is right on this, Neowin once again dominate the tech news once again.

I got some internal MS documents confirming that Aurora is indeed the name for the next Small Business Server version.

I have posted them on BetaArchive: http://www.betaarchive.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?p=134683#p134683

"It's possible that both could share similar codebases with one targeted at small business's (Aurora) and the other at home users and small home office users (Vail)."

Given the fact that both teams are one team now (HSBS, Home and Small Business Server Team - thats also what the build tag of Vail says) this sounds very likely.
