Dear Windows Update V5 Beta testers:
We are rapidly closing in on the release of Windows Update Version 5 Release Candidate 1. Starting with Windows Update V5 RC1, testing will not be limited to Windows XP Service Pack 2. The finalized list of Windows operating systems for Windows Update V5 RC1 testing will be included in the announcement once RC1 testing begins.
The permanent URL for the Windows Update V5 RC1 website will be https://test.v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.com. This is a CHANGE from earlier when we reported that the URL would change again before Windows Update V5 RC1 became available for testing. To limit the inconvenience to our Beta testing community, the URL will NOT be changed for RC1.
All Windows XP SP2 Beta builds beginning with Windows XP SP2 Build 2082 through Windows XP SP2 RC1 will use this Windows Update URL. For Beta testers using other Windows operating systems, the URL will be modified by the setup process made available with the official release of Windows Update V5 RC1.
