WP7 NoDo update for AT&T devices coming April 19th

Microsoft has been plagued by update woes with its new mobile operating system, Windows Phone 7. Users have complained that the update they've been waiting for, codenamed NoDo, has been delayed, fragmented, and being able to receive the update is spotty at best. Microsoft then stated that they have to wait for carriers to test the update on their devices, only adding to the delays. Frustrated, consumers then found ways to get the update earlier rather than later—which was then discouraged by Microsoft.

But thankfully, consumers won't have to wait much longer. WinRumors is reporting about an internal email within AT&T that was sent to the company's support personnel. The email reads: "Effective April 19, 2011, new Microsoft maintenance release updates will be available to AT&T customers with existing LG Quantum and Samsung Focus Windows Phone 7 devices." Although, "approved updates" will be available in "mid-May" for the HTC Surround.

Customers should be receiving two updates, if they have yet to receive the February update. The first update has been described by Microsoft as a way to get devices ready for following updates; NoDo should proceed thereafter.

NoDo brings the much-awaited copy and paste functionality that many consumers demanded since WP7's debut last year and was later promised to be added to the operating system in early 2011. But the email states that the updates will include "additional functionality that is unique to AT&T."

lol, who got a surround anyways? It's the most gimmicky looking piece of ****. How is it even possible for "surround" sound to come out of some tiny ass phone speaker? Who cares if the speaker slides out.. if you want to listen to high quality sound, it's *not* going to be on a phone, or at the very least you're connecting your phone to a real speaker system via aux cable or something...

Updating Samsung focus now. You have to check for updates twice the first one is the Feb update then you get the March update!

Did you's really expect AT&T to be snappy ? Solution if your frustrated, don't use AT&T. Still massively better than android, a month or two behind for some people compared to a year or two.

ALl though when mango comes out, people are going to be wanting some of those features.. its not just a tweak fix, its what WP7 should have been at launch. Hopefully MS won't delay / split that release.

Actually I think you'll find that pretty much every carrier has been delivering the update for a while now. Only ones that still haven't are Optus, Telstra and AT&T.

Still pretty ridiculous how AT&T says the Surround won't get an update till mid may. Why? What the **** are they waiting on?

Hello,

I wonder what will happen to Samsung Focus phones which have run the Chevron Windows Phone 7 Updater?

You could restore back to the old version and then wait for this update to be released.

Do tell how to do this...so far from what I know, you can't roll back. Resets don't help...

Don't you still have to update using the Zune client? If so, a backup was made and you can restore it.

If it doesn't use the Zune client to update, then I dunno Contact your carrier and get them to flash it or check xda-dev I guess?

update delivered during the first quarter as promised. There was no need to freak out about it! but no matter what HATERS GONNA HATE!
