[Update] Xbox Live currently experiencing a service disruption

Microsoft has indicated that Xbox Live is currently experiencing a service disruption that affects logging in, Xbox Music and Video with no timeline on when it will be resolved.

Microsoft’s Xbox Live service is a core component of the Xbox 360 experience and will also be deeply integrated into the Xbox One experience too. While the service does not often face an outage, when it does go offline, it severely limits the consoles capabilities.

Microsoft is not offering a timeline for resolution but seeing that they are acknowledging publically that there is an issue, it means that they are working to restore the service to full capacity.

[Update] As of about 3:30PM EST, service has been restored.

What I was thinking. Wasnt bad last night tho when I DLed Crysis. Didnt take long either. Hopefully it is back up in a few when I try to DL another game.

Maybe Microsoft are challenging people to try and get out there and enjoy the real world... Go for a meal, catch up with friends, have a threesome... These things may stop you achieving level 150 on the latest Battlefield (I really have no idea how high that figure goes!) but believe me, they're all fun things I fill my life with ... So maybe they're actually doing people a favour?

Of course, it does explain why everyone on the opposing team on the game I was playing left a few mins ago lol

Having a threesome is definately worth some achievement points.

Xbox can watch you having a threesome via the Kinect sensor and award you achievement points!

Haha, well most of my threesomes are online but Kinect didn't put them there lol. We're exhibitionists (my girl and me) so we'd love it if it did! Hah

Does "..." mean with Dave, Mike, and Tom?

Since I mentioned my girl, no Try Perrie, Ellie, Kelsey, Jacqueline, Tara, Katherine, Catherine (yeah ... lol)... But anyways ... LOL.

Point is ... when I play games I see people on Xbox Live that are so brutally good at the game, or so passionately into it in a really crazy way that I think they need to get out a bit! It's not good to be cooped up in front of games all day

I try to limit it. That said, this Xbox Live sale has kicked my ass ... I've just bought about 7 new games I may never get around to playing. The prices are too good! lol.

What was that suppose to mean? Can't brain that...

It meant ok I tend to just say what I mean hehe ... I'm always up for more gaming friends

no it definitely is not the definition of irony. This is the definition of hubris. This is like the 3rd or 4th major xbox live outage in the last 2 months. While in the meantime they had the hubris to announce the XB One would have always on DRM. Hubris, not irony.

Yeah and in the last two months they've been doing some major upgrades to the Xbox Live service. I think it's a cheap shot to say this is indicative to Xbox One issues. Xbox Live is currently powered by some 15k servers. When Xbox One launched, it will have 300k dedicated servers and that number will likely grow over time.

300k dedicated, virtual servers...I dont know if those 15k are virtual, real, or a mix. But having a service go down makes me guess that they are doing more than just turning on/off a couple VMs.

Have they tried turning it off and on again?

Or my favorite response I got from Gigabyte: "Are you experiencing this issue?"....no jackasses, I have nothing better to do than randomly ask for support on issues I am not experiencing. That was then followed up by "We have not heard of this issue, that product only contains USB3.0 ports"...oh yeah? Because your spec page and my own eyes say there are 4 USB2.0 ports.

OH boy.... here they come in 3, 2, 1.......

Hopefully it's back up before I get home though, was gonna play my to be downloaded games later.
