Xbox One S priced from £249 in the UK; pre-orders now open for 2TB Launch Edition

Earlier today, Microsoft officially announced the Xbox One S, a much smaller version of its console, offering support for HDR and 4K video, along with a 'streamlined' controller with the option of custom designs.

There will be three versions of the One S, with varying amounts of storage: 500GB, 1TB and 2TB. The version that will be released first is the 2TB 'Launch Edition', which will be priced at $399, while the other models will follow later.

As in the United States, pre-orders have now opened for the Launch Edition console in the UK, where it will cost £349.99. Like their US counterparts, UK buyers will have to wait two and a half months for the console to be delivered, as the Microsoft Store site says it won't be released there until August 31.

In addition to the 2TB Xbox One S console itself, buyers will also get:

  • The updated Wireless Controller
  • Stand to allow users to position the console vertically (the current Xbox One has to be horizontal)
  • HDMI cable
  • AC power cable
  • 14-day Xbox Live Gold trial

According to Engadget, the 500GB Xbox One S will cost £249, while the 1TB model will be priced at £299. However, it's not yet clear when these variants will go on sale in the UK.
