XDA II Announced

Hot on the heels of Microsoft's launch of Windows Mobile 2003 comes news of the XDA II from mmO2.

As any of my friends could testify, the XDA running Pocket PC 2002 Phone Edition rarely leaves my side... be that playing albums via a multimedia card, browsing Neowin Mobile Edition or making calls from Outlook with the sweet hands-free unit.

Well, it's getting tossed in the bin real soon based upon the specs of its replacement:

  • triband capability to enable seamless use worldwide alog with GPRS roaming

  • an integrated 65,000 colour 640x480 pixel display, digital camera and full multimedia messaging functionality

  • Bluetooth and optional Wireless LAN capability

  • a faster processor (Intel Xscale 400 MHz) facilitating faster use

  • Xmail, Microsoft Mobile Information Server and Extended Office which offer the ability to access corporate email on the move

  • high quality, colour games thanks to inbuilt Java technology

For me this proposed device really shows what mobile computing should be like, and I for one can't wait. Needless to say that there'll be a review on Neowin by the end of the year!
