Yahoo users can spruce up text e-mails with video messages

Yahoo has struck a deal that will allow its users to spruce up text e-mails with video messages. Under the agreement with video technology company SpotLife, people using Yahoo Mail will be able to e-mail video clips to their acquaintances. The technology allows people to store video files recorded on a PC camera. A Yahoo Mail user can send an e-mail that links to a Yahoo page allowing the recipient to replay the video.

People need to be running Microsoft's Windows operating system and Windows Media player to use the new feature. The deal taps the increased usage of PC video cameras. According to market research firm IDC, 60 million PC video cameras will be sold by 2005.
