Zombies confirmed for Call of Duty: Black Ops

It's official: the undead are rising once more for Call of Duty: Black Ops. As reported by Computer and Video Games, Treyarch announced today that the popular zombie feature is back, confirming what it calls one of the "worst kept secrets." The return was teased yesterday on the game's website, gknova6.com.

Four players will be able to face the onslaught in co-op, and the developer promises some fresh twists along the way. "We've taken extra special care to retain the essential ingredients of our Zombie game, and have also crafted a nice surprise for the fans," said Treyarch boss Mark Lamia.

The feature was unofficially revealed earlier in the week when it was shown in several retail listings for the strategy guide, as well as in a press release for the book. It was also exposed in a Best Buy Canada listing for the Prestige and Hardened editions of the upcoming game.

The zombie-shooting mode was first included in Treyarch's previous title, 2008's Call of Duty: World at War. "Zombies have been such a hit with our community that we were committed to bringing brand new zombie experiences to Call of Duty: Black Ops."

Call of Duty: Black Ops is set to hit store shelves on November 9 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii and PC.

as long as the zombies arent in the single player campaign, im fine. why does everyone like zombies so much? its the easiest way to rueen a game.

Uncharted? amazing, then BAM, zombies... lame.

It's quite widely known that we see more vampire / zombie games & films when there's economic problems -- this seems to acknowledge that

CoD is not exactly my cup of tea franchise (more like a CS junkie), but if they have a 'kill the glittering vampires' feature, I may want to take a look at them.

Love news sites where titles can start with "Zombies confirmed".

Look for it? No, of course not. It's always by my side. Just in case.

I for one always keep a crossbow in my desk drawer.

I didn't find the game all that interesting. It's a good game but it just didn't cut it. The zombies were alright and kept me playing the game a little longer but still no interest to me. I have the game pre-ordered and hopefully they can impress me this time but I probably won't be playing the zombie part too much. That's just me though. I never got why they added it or what it even has to do with the CoD series. I don't think a mini game inside this package should overtake or be better than the game itself. To me it's a fail for them to have that part do better. But for all you fans out there of the zombies, must be loving it now and those who were waiting to preorder have already gone to do so now that this is public.

See it this way, is a different way to play CoD. Plus, when the killing between people gets boring, you can always get a good team up and fight a common enemy. At least you get to kill time with you pals or alone. Hope that this time they support Full 4 multiplayer action.

It was really supposed to be nothing too important. It was just something extra the devs worked on in their spare time that they decided to add to the game. When they saw it was so popular, they added all the map packs for it.
