Google Photos is a very useful media library management tool, powered by the cloud and installed by default on most Android handsets. It regularly gets new features that not only enhance editing capabilities but also offer a conversational experience of interacting with the software. Recently, Google has been injecting AI features into Photos, such as the ability to generate high-quality videos based on photos, and now, it"s taking this a step further.
Through a teardown of the APK file for Google Photos version 7.51.0, Android Authority has discovered that Google is working on an AI-based meme generator powered by Google Photos. This is described as "Me Meme" in the code strings, but it"s likely that it"ll end up being called "Meme Me" or something else altogether when, and if, it actually launches.
Basically, it will allow users to use their own photos or those taken of someone else and feed them to a meme generator that will integrate the face from that photo into a meme. Currently, only the This is fine template is available within this feature, but it"s likely that more templates will be added in the future.
In terms of functionality, imagine feeding the meme generator a photo of yourself and asking it to create a personalized This is fine meme, which replaces the iconic dog with your caricature. There do seem to be a few restrictions, though. Google Photos currently recommends using a selfie for the best experience, and any photo that you do use must be backed up on the cloud first.
It"s important to note that there is no guarantee that this meme generator will actually see the light of day, but there is a definite chance here since it will likely pull in millennials and Gen Z users who heavily rely on memes in conversations. If this particular set of Google Photos users is present in your circle, expect your face to be plastered over skibidi toilet memes for the foreseeable future.
