Halo Infinite has been delayed until 2021

Microsoft is set to debut its next-generation Xbox console this holiday season, but one thing that won"t arrive alongside it is Halo Infinite. The game was set to be a launch title, as has traditionally been the case in generations past. Now, gamers are going to have to wait until 2021.

Halo developer 343 Industries made the announcement on Twitter today, citing "multiple factors" as reasons for the delay. One of those, of course, is COVID-19, which has kept the team working from home for the bulk of the year.

Last month at a live-streamed event, Microsoft and 343 Industries showed off gameplay from the new game, and there was a lot of criticism surrounding the graphics that were shown. The end of the note says that it wants to deliver the game "at the quality we know our fans expect", possibly a nod to criticism and a hint that the team might rework some things.

Either way, we"re all going to have to wait to find out. Halo Infinite won"t arrive until 2021, so it will no longer arrive alongside the Xbox Series X, which is set to arrive in November.
