Shortly after the release of Windows 11 version 25H2 in late September, Microsoft confirmed that the Media Creation Tool app, its default utility for downloading Windows 11 and creating bootable media, did not work on certain PCs. If you had a device with an Arm64 processor, an attempt to launch the Media Creation Tool would result in an error, leaving you unable to use the app.
Fortunately, Windows 11 has no shortage of apps for such tasks. Also, Microsoft fixed the issue pretty quickly. The latest non-security update for Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2, KB5067036, fixed the problem with the Media Creation Tool app:
Fixed: The Media Creation tool (version 26100.6584), released on September 29, 2025, might not work as expected on devices with Arm64. Users may encounter an error message such as: “We’re not sure what happened, but we"re unable to run this tool on your PC." This is a known issue for Windows 11, version 25H2.
KB5067036 is an optional update, so you need to manually download it through Windows Update. Go to Settings > Windows Update, click "Check for Updates" and then click "Download and installed" when offered the update. Microsoft will include all the fixes and improvements in future Patch Tuesday updates.
In addition to the fixed Media Creation Tool app, KB5067036 is packed with plenty of useful changes and new features. The update has finally brought the redesigned Start menu to Windows 11 24H2/25H2 users, the redesigned battery indicator on the taskbar and lock screen. Also, if you have a Copilot+ PC, the KB5067036 gets you more Click to Do improvements, Voice Access updates, File Explorer tweaks, and more.
Most of the new features, excluding several bug fixes, are rolling out gradually. Fortunately, you do not have to play the feature lottery. Check out this guide, which describes how to enable new features in KB5067036, including the Start menu, redesigned battery indicators, and more.
