After launching at E3 last year and recently getting a release date on PC for the 18th of August, someone’s taken up the initiative of making Microsoft’s new Flight Simulator available as a physical release as well.
Aerosoft, a publisher that deals with all sorts of simulators, has struck a deal with Microsoft to publish the entire game in a set of DVDs that should make for a faster installation. As reported by Engagdet, this makes 90GB of data physically available, which also makes the game more accessible to those stuck with a slower than usual internet connection.
90GB is a lot of data and as a physical release, will take up 10 dual-layered DVD discs. As a part of the package, Aerosoft will also include a physical copy of the manual in what it calls a “spectacular box” that should start shipping for buyers in Europe around the 21st of August.
The boxed package contains the simulator code, world and aircraft models, optional streamed online content, and 3rd party files. The price tag for the boxed version has not been announced, but the publisher claims that it will be close to the price a user would have to pay Microsoft.
What isn’t clear at the moment is which of the three versions will make it to the physical copy. But Aerosoft claims that regardless of what is available on the discs, the box will contain a code that buyers can redeem at the Microsoft Store and own a digital copy of the game as well.
