Microsoft"s staggered rollout of the new icons for its Office apps seems to finally be picking up the pace, and now it"s time for OneDrive to start seeing its look updated. As spotted by Windows Blog Italia, the OneDrive sync client for Windows is getting a new update for some users that have opted into the Insider preview builds.
The new update includes the new iconography first revealed towards the end of last year, and already, it seems to be pretty consistent across the many appearances of the icon. It can be seen in the taskbar and system tray icons, as well as in the title bar, and there"s even a slightly altered version in the progress window that pops up from the system tray icon.
The new icons are reportedly available in version 19.073.0415.0001 of the OneDrive sync client, but there"s no mention of this version in the official release notes as of yet, and it"s still build 19.062.0331.0003 that"s listed as currently rolling out. We also haven"t been able to find the update on our test machines, so it doesn"t seem to be widely available yet.
The new Office icons have started making their way to some of the most popular apps in the suite, and they"re also coming to the dormant UWP apps in the future. They"ve been spotted in some of the company"s other products as well, so hopefully this means we"ll see a more consistent design language across the board going forward.
