State of Decay 2 is getting a new map, all previous DLC, and more in a free update

The Xbox studio behind the zombie survival series State of Decay, Undead Labs, today announced the State of Decay 2: Juggernaut Edition, a brand new version of the game that improves it on many levels while also coming with all the add-on packs and even a new map. However, this is not a paid upgrade, with the Juggernaut Edition heading to all owners of the game as well as Xbox Game Pass subscribers.

Undead Labs didn"t reveal much about the new map other than its name, Providence Ridge, and a couple of screenshots, so we will probably find out more about it later. The studio mentioned that it has made a range of graphics improvements to the title in the update, bettering the looks and frame rates at the same time. There"s also a rebuilt "post-tutorial experience" to ease in new players, a new heavy melee weapons category, new music, as well as a range of bug fixes.

As previously mentioned, all of the paid add-ons that have so far released for State of Decay 2 will become part of the base game. These include the Independence and Daybreak DLC packs, as well as the Heartland expansion. For anyone who"s already purchased these add-ons or the game"s Ultimate Edition, there will be exclusive in-game gifts waiting for them on the update"s launch day.

This massive (or juggernaut) update is slated for launch on March 13 for Xbox One and Windows 10 players, but there is another platform being added too. The Steam version of State of Decay 2 is finally releasing on the same day, fully upgraded to the new edition. This version will also boast full cross-play capabilities with the other platforms for the co-op component of the title.
