Hey guys, here's the update of Bant's c10k mod with some tweaks and additions that have been requested. Here's some of what has been updated and added, from the readme: Bant's Ergo mod has been tweaked a bit, 3 new color schemes in the style of Bant's mod (Ergonomic, Olive, Carbon), shellstyles have been updated, new start buttons, other minor cosmetic tweaks. Please guys, do not post any screenshots of your "mods" in this thread. If you'd like send it to me and I'll take a look at it, no guarantees. Direct all questions and issues of permission to me, thanks. ;) Thanks to all those that have been supportive and have contributed to Classix 10k. :) Special thanks to …

Is there any way of remote handling your unix files like a local folder on a Windows Machine?
by MariosX- 5 replies
- 2.2k views
Hello! I'm learning about Linux System Administration. I have a Ubuntu 16.04 Server LTS, there's no GUI (I don't need one anyway) and I'm handling everything from a terminal and because I have to do "file hunting" and handling, for me terminal is not speedy enough. For example let's say I want to configure my Bind9 DNS settings, the main configurations are: ``` /etc/bind/named.conf /etc/bind/named.conf.options /etc/bind/named.conf.local ``` so I'll have to do: ``` nano /etc/bind/named.conf nano /etc/bind/named.conf.options nano /etc/bind/named.conf.local ``` as long as I am logged in as root, if not logged in as root I'll have to …

hello dear experts I am currently working on a little project -code to use on a ESP 32 - generated with PlatformIO/VScode the question is: how to upload the code to the ESP32 (connected to the computer using USB) but the question is: there i need to find how to select the right USB port to upload the code. i need to specify an 'upload_port' for environment or i might go and use global '--upload-port' option. **How can I upload my code?** Well again; i think that it is pretty important to find the USB port: i have to use WindowsKey-X, and then i need to select Device Manager, afterward i have plug in the device and observ…

OpusClassic theme for Windows XP
by trancerrr- 5 replies
- 4.1k views
Hi, this is Opus Classic theme for Windows XP. I think it is one of the best classic-looking themes. Don't want Windows XP? Then you need to port it to Windows 7. I'm just presenting you a look. It is based on b0se's "Codename: Opus" theme. I'm just leaving it here that this is the original place where the original theme was located. https://www.deviantart.com/puretrance/art/OpusClassic-769954322

Does anybody know how to eliminate the shortcut arrow from 1903? The previous methods (registry entries) yields a white box drawn over the shortcuts this time. Is there another method that I can use or am I overlooking something here?

I requested this feature because it looks nice. And some people like to do their work in the middle of the screen. But it never got implemented. So i wrote a tool that does this automatically. No matter how many icons there are in the taskbar they always get nicly centered. Requirements: Windows 10 Tested on: 1803 x64 1809 x64 Download: https://chrisandriessen.nl/downloads Changelog: Falcon10 Build 27-11-2018 November * Added simple tray menu for exit & restart Falcon10 Build 26-11-2018 November * Supports Windows 10 All builds * No Admin Required! How can I get Notepad to show white margins on the top and sides?
by TheMouseAvenger- 18 replies
- 7.4k views
I recently got a Windows 10 computer that I've been customizing to visually resemble my previously-owned Windows Vista & 7 computers. I'm making great progress towards finalizing my customization, but I've hit a bit of a roadblock. I want Notepad to show those little white margins at the top & sides of the program window, like it used to do on Windows Vista & Windows 7. See here: •No margin •With margin The problem is, I've tried numerous searches on Google about dealing with this issue, only to hardly get any results! Surely, there must be something that can be done to get those margins back--a registry tweak, a third-party program, anything a…

On NVIDIA GPU's... Instructions to get the HDR look: 1. Open up your NVIDIA Control Panel 2. Go to the section titled "Adjust desktop color settings" 3. On the Choose How Colors Are Set section of this page in NVIDIA Control Panel, click on the spot that says "Use NVIDIA Settings" and make sure its set to "All Channels" for the color channels (otherwise this will be a lot harder to do next steps) 4. Set your Brightness to 50% 5. Set your Contrast to 75% 6. Set the Digital Vibrance to 65% (For what its worth... this is apparently what the pros use if they are using this feature, it makes colors pop out some but does not oversaturate them really b…

[free app] ExecTI - Run as TrustedInstaller
by Sergey "hb860"- 3 replies
- 4.3k views
ExecTI – Run Programs as TrustedInstaller ExecTI is my latest project. I got tired of having to take ownership and grant administrator privileges for protected Registry keys and files during the various tests I perform on my Windows PC. I also wanted to create such an app a long time ago, but always postponed it due to lack of time. Finally, I am happy to share it with you. The application has no other UI/dialogs, and options at all. It allows you to browse for an executable file (exe, cmd, or bat file), or you can type the command directly in the text box. The app allows you to run other apps as "TrustedInstraller". A new security model introduced in Windows Vista…

But there has to be some out there that are still interested. lol I'll do my part to improve the thread if there's any at all still interested in playing around with their OS. It's a hobby and passion of mine. Also please I can do without the hate. If you have know clue about a subject why do you feel the need to chime in? ugh. Well let us get the ball rolling. What kinds of Topics/features would you be interested in or seen brought back to the forums? Hope to hear from you and make new/old friends!

There are performance and security benefits to disabling short file names (or 8.3 file names) on Windows. From the graph below, you can see the performance benefits of disabling the 8.3 short file names. On Windows 8/2012 serv, the 8.3 naming is disabled when you format a new volume. When you’ve upgraded from previous versions of Windows, it’ll inherit your previous settings. Run cmd with admin privileges: fsutil behavior set disable8dot3 1 OR fsutil behavior set disable8dot3 3 (1 = all volumes / 3 = all but system colume) - then reboot. Run cmd again with admin credentials and type: fsutil 8dot3name strip /f /s C: …

Hi guys, I'm trying to theme my TotalCMD the same way as Sublime on right: TC's borders seem to be rendered by itself, not the OS, so I assume the only way to edit them is by hacking the relevant source My question is – what tools do I use to figure out which lines of code render these borders, and how can I edit them out? Thanks, Nenad

Customatic - Themes, Launchers, Desktop Live Tiles for Windows 10
by DrainTheSw4mp- 14 replies
- 11.9k views
Hi, for those who have been following my previous post, 3 months and 250,000 lines of code later and after teaming up with another developer we've come up with an app that can greatly enhance your Windows 10 experience (or at least, let you customize it!). You can completely change the appearance of the OS with themes, including taskbar, live previews, jumplists and UWP apps, use launchers to open your programs and show your live tiles on the Desktop (or completely disable any modern UI features for that matter). We're launching on Kickstarter to raise funds for continued development since we need to keep it updated and just polish/optimize it for version 1.0.

Windows to Go on 4TB USB - GPT OR MBR?
by Pootis Spencer- 7 replies

Hi, I have a 4TB external USB HD and I want to install Windows to Go on a 100GB partition and have the remaining space as one partition for data. I also want to use GPT because it wont allow me to partition any more then 2TB if on MBR. Do I have to use MBR to do this or can I still use GPT so I can take this drive and plug in elsewhere? Also what would be the best way to partition for a windows to go? Does it just need one partition or do I have to partition for boot, msr, system and recovery etc?

My work is based on the spirit of os X, and not a copy of it. Designed, under my personal taste, with new kind of navigation and of traffic buttons, and much more in many sections. Also the use of white Text color to the main window Titlebar area gives a different look than Apple's osx versions, i tried to give a white text on transparent background as i find this like a challenge. To the pack included the windows 7 Themes, the new made code, icons and images, contained to modified system files that must replace the original Microsoft system files (for 64bit and 32bit systems), a Theme for RkLauncer so to look as the preview image, a folder with additi…
