Like the Nintendo Classic Mini, Japan's Famicom is making a comeback

Back in July, Nintendo announced the Classic Mini, a small version of its NES console that will be pre-loaded with 30 games. But the NES was never launched in the company's homeland of Japan. Instead, it launched the Family Computer, more commonly known as Famicom.

Today, the firm made the Famicom Mini official. Like its NES counterpart, it will include 30 classic games; however, they are not all the same. Here are the games that will be pre-loaded on the console (the titles that aren't on the Nintendo Classic Mini are in bold):

  • Atlantis no Nazo

  • Balloon Fight

  • Bumping Sumo

  • Castlevania

  • Donkey Kong

  • Double Dragon Ⅱ: The Revenge

  • Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari

  • Downtown Soreyuke Daiundoukai

  • Dr. Mario

  • Excitebike

  • Final Fantasy Ⅲ

  • Galaga

  • Gradius

  • Ice Climber

  • Kirby’s Adventure

  • Makai Village

  • Mario Open Golf

  • Mega Man 2

  • Metroid

  • Ninja Gaiden

  • Pac-Man

  • River City Ransom

  • Solomon’s Key

  • Super Mario Bros

  • Super Mario Bros. 3

  • Super Mario USA

  • Super Tamashito Luo

  • The Legend of Zelda

  • Adventure of Link

  • Yie Ar Kung-Fu

Also, here are the games that will be installed on the Nintendo Classic Mini, but not on the new Famicom device:

  • Bubble Bobble

  • Castlevania II: Simon's Quest

  • Donkey Kong Jr

  • Final Fantasy

  • Ghosts'n Goblins

  • Kid Icarus

  • Mario Bros

  • Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream

  • StarTropics

  • Super C

  • Super Mario Bros. 2

  • Tecmo Bowl

The new Famicom console will go on sale on November 10 in Japan, a day before the rest of the world gets the Nintendo Classic Mini. You'll be able to buy it for 5,980 yen, or about $59.
