Pokémon GO Halloween event promises more Zubats and candies than ever

Pokémon GO was without a doubt the surprise hit of the summer. The augmented reality game managed to attract up to 50 million players around the world in just a matter of weeks. But, as the game’s novelty wore off, summer turned to fall and darkness crept back into the forests of the world, and Pokémon GO’s player base quickly dwindled.

But Niantic is trying to recapture some of that magic that turned their title into such a sensation, with a new Halloween-themed event for players. Regular gamers are probably used to timed, themed events around major holidays, but casual players may be delighted to discover them for the first time thanks to Niantic’s efforts.

The Pokémon GO Halloween event starts off tomorrow, October 26th and runs until November 1st. During the spooky holiday, players hunting pokémon will have increased chances of running into the game’s spookiest creatures: Drowzee, Hypno, Ghastly, Haunter, Gengar, Golbat and Zubat. How spooky indeed.

Besides the increased chances of pokémon showing up, players will also find more treats everywhere and will get 2x or 4x the candies so some actions in-game.

This will most likely not bring back that many players, but it does represent a neat event for the millions of active pokémon trainers around the world.
